Hardware Compatibility List

Looks, like only latest Gigabyte mobos are supported. Not sure if it will work on my Asus P5K Premium, 8800 GTS 640mb, 8GB GSkill PC2 8500, Q6600 GO (OC'd @ 3.2 GHz). Running Leopard 10.5.2/Vista 64 Ultimate dual boot on my system.

Don't buy EFI-X unless you buy compatible hardware - only use it with the stuff on their list. If you want to keep your Asus board, go with Kalyway or Boot-132. Otherwise just upgrade your motherboard to one of their Gigabyte models. The DQ6 is good one. I have a couple EP45-DS3R boards but they're kinda junky so far (dunno if I got a pair of duds or what).

If only there was a hackintosh that was compatible with a high end graphics card like the 260/280GTX or 4870. Guess I just have to keep waiting.

The word on the street is that the 48xx series is mentioned in the drivers bundled with the new MacBooks. It may be possible to use 48xx cards come 10.5.6, but we'll see. If nothing else, we'll get the ability with the MacPro update at the January MWSF.

Is that for sure? If so, I can't wait!

Mind spelling out exactly what the issues you're having with your EP45-DS3Rs?

I'm starting to look around for my next Hackintosh upgrade and was thinking of that board and the EFIX.

What's the word on that board vs. the DQ6?

I just finally built my EFI-X machine yesterday and so far everything is working great. I ordered it from www.efixusa.net using paypal to pay and had no problems with them. I used the EP45-DS3R and no problems so far

Problems sleeping, problems with losing USB (no USB work), overclocking doesn't work, overclocking fried my 2nd board. Apparently there was a bad batch of them. Over 50 users on the EFI-X forum have reported problems with them. Some people get super boards, some people get crap boards like me. DQ6 is supposed to rock, if I had to do it again I'd get the DQ6.

I really like EFI-X. They have some great stuff planned and are continually adding supporting. By far, this is the easiest multi-boot I've ever experienced, even outside of the Hackintosh world. Definitely going to be building more EFI-X rigs in the future!

They're being addressed in the October update coming in the next week or two. Although, it may have been limited to a bad run of boards - at least 50 users have the issue, but there are a number of people with DS3R boards that are fully-functional. My buddy has nearly the same setup as I do and his works fine. So I dunno...guess we'll find out when the updates hit

At $240 a pop I would sure hope so!

Actually, looking on newegg I see they're currently $200 after rebate...

I have to say, that is one loaded board- 10 SATA ports! Tons of PCIe slots, USB ports out the wazoo, 4 Ethernet ports (!!?) 16GB RAM capacity...

It's like the "More of Everything" board!

Ahh, heck, I'm getting it. It's well worth it not to roll the dice on the EP45-DS3R, plus this board has freakin' everything. I'm just going to hold off on the EFI-X for a while and try the Boot-132/Retail method first.

A quick search of insanely mac- someone got his DQ6 board to boot OSX by merely taking the previously installed drive out of his system with a EP35-DS4- exactly what I have!

I've definitely found my new Hackintosh!

Yeah if I can get Newegg to exchange both of my DS3R's, I'm going to get a DQ6. It's a beast!

If the stupid i7 chipsets would just hit market and EFI-X supports the new motherboards, I wouldn't have to worry about using hacked isos.

Hmmm, I don't see my P35-DS4 on that list only the EP35-DS4. Anyone know what the difference is?

Dunno, but if your board isn't on the list verbatim, don't buy EFI-X for it. Can't stress that enough...the developers won't support you and you'll probably run into problems. Pointless to spend that much money if you don't have compatible hardware
