Electric Guitarists out there

What is your opinion of this guitar?

I was looking at a Gibson Les Paul yesterday, but decided not to get it.

How would this electric hold up. I need to get my mind off a few things, so getting a new instrument would be a good idea.

the Agile AL3500 looks really nice and good reviews.

Michael Kelly Custom I will try to stop by the shop sometime this or next weekend and try it out.

But which would you prefer, and what style do you play?

I am looking at a Behringer 60 W Ultratwin. What do you think?

play it first...for a while in the shop...see how it feels, how fast it is, the tones it puts out....

i got a nice telecaster flame cutaway...i love it...

dont just purchase on looking at it

unless you collect them and it does not matter....esp for that price

Never heard of the brand, have you played it?

I would say try before you buy, there are a lot of LP knockoffs, some sound great some don't

I always hear excellent things about the guitars from Rondo music. I've never played one myself, but it is more-or-less inevitable that I will own one.

The only difference between the two seems to be the thicker maple top on the one linked in your OP. This is allegedly supposed to make the tone brighter.

I tend to shy away from Fenders. Although good instruments, Gibsons feel more beefy.

More of an acoustic guitar player though, but I have been meaning to get an electric. Alot of stuff you can do on an electric that you can't on a acoustic unless you are Andy McKee.

Thanks for the link. I wish they had the option of the Root Beer on the thicker maple top. I like that profile.

Honestly, if I were going to spend that much for a Les Paul knock-off, I would go with the Epiphone Les Paul Standard. They can be had for $399-$499.

If anything I woudl get an Epiphone Les Paul Ultra. Good reviews on the Ultra.

If you go to a few guitar forums, you'll encounter constant praise on the Agile line of guitars.

From what I gathered though, only the models from the AL-2800 series and up are worth it. Supposedly they are superior to Epiphone's Les Paul's..

If you're going for sub $500, I would say an Epiphone Les Paul is the way to go. However, if you're looking at spending a little more, I would say either a PRS, or Gibson, unless you're a fan of the Fender Strats and Telecasters. However, if you go with a Fender, make sure to get an American made one, and not the crappier Mexican made ones. The electronics on the Mexican ones suck!

Get a Michael Kelly guitar. Those are awesome, one of my friends has one. Seriously, I think it sounds better than his Gibson does.

Why do you guys keep suggesting mass market electrics other than top of the line Gibsons and Fenders, rather than custom luthiers? Any of you guys know custom luthier electric guitars that have gotten good reviews? I wouldn't be able to go to Guitar Center and bang a few riffs out on custom shop electrics, that is why I haven't done so already. If worst comes to worst I will get the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra or a Gibson Les Paul, but I feel that it has too much overhead for the actual quality of the instrument, but that is just me.

Check my sig.. my $149 special..

Ripped all the junk out and replaced & rewired with all new pots, caps, pickups, etc..
Pulled out the crappy tuners and popped some Grover tuners in..

Only original parts are the wood and the backplate

Well, with those two, it depends on what sound you want. Gibsons tend to be pretty warm and resonant, while Fenders are usually brighter toned and have tons of sustain.

Heh.. I was thinking about using some Mexican parts (body, neck) and getting my own hardware. Bad idea?

I am not too knowledgable about all the different pickups out there.

What would be the overall sound difference between the pickups here and the ones I posted?

Well, with those two, it depends on what sound you want. Gibsons tend to be pretty warm and resonant, while Fenders are usually brighter toned and have tons of sustain.

Exactly. Since I play more acoustic, I tend to enjoy the sound of Gibsons better. Fenders are really nice too though, just not my thing... yet.

True....Epiphone is going to be your best bet. They are actually very good guitars. Usually the only difference between them and the real thing is that they aren't made in Nashville. Quality of the guitar usually lies in the people who made it. I own a Chinese guitar acoustic/electric. It's been great for years, but just realized yesterday that the pickups on it are no longer working. I can get it fixed, but it's a pain to know that a similar guitar I have from Ibanez made in Korea 5 years earlier still works.
