Doctor decapitated by faulty elevator at St. Joseph Hospital

An aspiring missionary doctor, who was voted by medical school classmates as the epitome of a good physician, was killed Saturday at Christus St. Joseph Hospital when an elevator malfunctioned, decapitating him, authorities said.

Hitoshi Nikaidoh, 35, of Dallas, a surgical resident at the hospital at 1919 La Branch, was stepping onto a second-floor elevator in the main building around 9:30 a.m. when the doors closed, pinning his shoulders, said Harold Jordan, an investigator with the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office. The elevator car then moved upward, severing the doctor's head, Jordan said.

God damn, what a horrible way to die. Could you imagine how the woman in the elevator must have felt?

Anyone see Final Destination 2?

People are diots....they are driven by emotions...

How the hell do you get stuck in elevator doors? Do they not have an elevator with any kind of safety features on it?

Yeah, I didn't think the doors could close that easily. I know I've held elevators for people just be pulling the door back and they came open with great ease. This elevator have major problems?

No kidding. Instead of blaming the victim and the woman stuck in the elevator, lets wait and see what was wrong with the elevator.

I used to fix the elevator in our building all the time. The elevators used by doctors are different than the elevators you and I use. They have larger doors and much stronger motors than the hotel types. Once the door goes past a certain point you can easily be smashed by the doors because the sensors cannot see you in time to react. The only way I can see this happening is if someone tried to squeeze through the doors just as they closed. Otherwise this doctor wasn't very bright in my opinion. You can have all the education in the world and still be a complete and total idiot having zero common sense.

Jeeeeeeeeeeeezuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus! What a painful and terrible way to die.

Well, yeah, what's up with that woman? I have experienced something similar where a bunch of people are in the elevator. They are so selfish pressing their floors even though they know the elevator is not completely loaded. If they press what floor they want to go to, then the door starts to close and anyone trying to enter could get trapped. Or they have no courtesy to press the button to keep the door open for those trying to enter. It's pathetic to see how selfish people are even in very simple matters.

"One worker at the hospital said there had been problems in the past with these particular elevators and that maintenance crews had been trying to service them in the past week, Perkins said."

still be a complete and total idiot

Yes, you've proven that.

Word of advice - if your trying to slip into an elevator as the doors close, put your arm in to retract the door, not your head.

The lady could have at least kicked him in the head or chest pushing him out before the ceiling cut him off.

He became a devout Christian while in medical school, his father said. He became a youth group leader and decided to become a missionary doctor.

I thought god looked after his children. Wonder what he could have done to piss him off?

Maybe God needed a headless angel to round out the set.
