Embedded Fonts in Firefox

Does anyone know if Firefox will adopt Microsoft's WEFT embedded font software so web builders can display the font they really want to like they can in IE?

I don't know anything about what you're talking about, but I will ask these questions:

1. Is it Free to implement?
2. Is there a pre-existing standard that performs this function?
3. Is it dependent on libraries or other software that are not Free or are Windows-specific?

Unless the answer to #1 is yes, to #2 is no, and to #3 is no, there isn't a chance in hell. But I'd rather not put words in the mouths of the developers.

EOTs (used by Microsoft) are proprietary, so it's unlikely that Firefox will adopt them.

Web Fonts may be included in the CSS3 standard, which Firefox is almost certain to support. You can read about them here.

1. Yes, it is free to download and use.

3. No. It is totally free and runs through code in IE which I would imagine Firefox could run since Firefox is compatible with Windows.

Remember that Firefox is a cross-platform browser. In general, they won't add features that are platform-specific (they do have some ActiveX support). That's why you may have to wait until the W3C standardizes the feature.

As an alternative, you can use GlyphGate, which supports all browsers.
