EMERGENCY - PLEASE HELP

Just put a new rig together and this needs to get working ASAP...

Epox P4 478 MB w/ via P4M800

Display: ViewSonic 22" VX2235wm LCD (tested on another computer to - A.O.K/Works)

The onboard video WILL NOT DISPLAY/No signal
Also tried Geforce 4 6200 PCI Card WILL NOT DISPLAY/NO SIGNAL

What the heck is going on? I can't get any video to work out of this... It needs to be fixed ASAP for an important project... Thanks for your help!

are you sure the geforce 6200 works? did you enable onboard video in the bios (if theres an option to)

the Geforce 4 6200 works just fine... pulled from working system. I tried both the geforce and I tried taking the card out and trying just the onboard video without the geforce installed. I can not access the bios because I have no video connection to the monitor(which works).

is the system giving you any diagnostic beep's? maybe the motherboard is defective

No beeps what so ever right now. It once beeped with a long beep and then another long beep until I turned it off. Tried 2 min later... NO BEEPS. Very odd... if it is grounded... it wouldn't boot/power on right? Everything sounds like it is booting. UHG!

try booting with 1 stick of ram and no rom drive. try booting with your ram in different slots. Other than that I think the board is defective. make sure to read the manual front and back.

try pulling the power cord, battery and shorting the bios jumper.

the board will revert to default setting and hopefully to onboard video.

winr...1) unplug the power cord. 2) remove MB batter 3) Reset the bios? not sure what you mean by "short".

change positions on the jumper fo the bios.


it should be on "Normal", change it to "clear bios".

be sure to put it back to normal before trying to boot up.



EDIT: yes, reset the bios, I shouldnt have called it short.

Have you made sure that the monitor connection and switching matches video output? For example, are you using DVI output into a DVI in connector, and then setting the monitor to use the DVI input?

Also, I'm perturbed to hear there are NO beeps. Normally there will be at least one confirming beep from the mobo when it finishes its POST checks, even if there is no good video signal coming out. Or, if it finds a problem, there will be some series of beeps that are a clue to the problem (See your manual). But NO beeps does suggest a major problem with mobo.
