What is too high for +5v rail ?
What is too high for +12v rail?
The way I see it is that if the 5v & 12v spec on most psu's is +-5%, then it's okay to set those lines upto 5% above.
5v ~ 5.25v
12v ~ 12.6v

Personally, I have never set my 5v rail that high. I adjusted my 5v while at full load, which in turn increased my 5v line by .1v at idle. My 12v rail was around 12.7v (load) and I didn't experience any stability issues so I wouldn't be too worried about that. BTW, are you checking these lines with a multimeter or through software (MBM, Sandra, etc...)? Software based readings are often not exact.

still not fryed

I thought I could rely on the readings in the hardware monitor, NOT.
I took more meter readings and made adjustments while running Prime95 and IE.

The potentiometer is adjusted to its limits.... ~4.61v under load now.
And it rebounds to just a hair under 5v at idle.
The 12v looks right on the money.
All readings by meter.

Should I order another higher Ohm pot? .. or be satisfied with what I have?

(Sandra and my MB montor say

5.56v / 13.50v idle

5.13v / 13.68v load )

4.61 does sound kind of low but if you're not having stability issues, I would say it's fine. But if you feel you need more resistance you can add a resistor (radio shack) in series with the pot. I assume this is in your AMD box in your sig, if so I'm also using an Abit KX7r mb and I've changed my psu to a PC Power & Cooling 475watt unit (1% regulation on 5v and 12v rail) and my BIOS/MBM/Sandra all report that my 5v is 4.97 & 11.8v respectively. So the readings are actually not that far off (if the psu is giving out the correct voltages).

Do you mean solder a resistor to one lead of the Pot? Then re-solder it the circuit board?
(After adjusting the resistance to what is when I pulled it out)

hmmm ,,, think I can re-use the resistor I removed?

I'll check the color codes to find out what the resistance value is.

... or I guess a 5k ohm resistor would be plenty? (imo)

Yep.

I believe the original resistor value was 7.15k. The resistor Enermax used has a 5% tolerance so that is probably the reason for low voltages. If you reuse that resistor, you won't get as good resolution with the pot when you adjust it (you would have to get a 1k Pot). I would suggest maybe a 1-2k resistor. But I really don't think you need to do so since it's you say your computer is already performing better.

Thanks of all your help and patience with me LastStop.

I'd buy you a beer or something if I could

I'm printing this thread for reference.

One last question...
Will this mod work for all the Enermax models?

It's no problem at all, I had the same problem with my Enermax and I felt like I should pass on this information .

Yep, I did this mod on my EG365P-FMA unit which is now in a secondary computer.
