Here's my situation...

Sometimes in CS:S, my old Enermax 350w gives out and causes a reboot. Likely because my 6800GT is trying to eat too much power. It may also be generally holding back the card, and if I ever want a new HD or something I'll need to upgrade anyways so I figure I might as well get it over with and buy a new PSU.

Now, this is the model I was looking at from NCIX.com (Canadian prices): http://www.ncix.com/products/index....facture=ENERMAX

Enermax Noisetaker 485W. It has dual 12V rails, both rated at 18A each. Is this a good quality PSU, and will it provide enough energy for the components I currently have installed? And will it be able to take a few extra components also, like an extra HD or DVDrw in the future?

PS: I just noticed something on Speedfan. My 12V rail is only reporting about 11.25V on Speedfan, that's a bad thing right? What are the consequences of it? (Sorry I'm pretty much a PSU noob).

I just got a Noisetasker 470W.

It is pretty quiet (I can hear my brothers AMD64 3200+ from across the room and cannot hear my rig). I am running the following with no issues in CS:S & BF1942.

P4 2.53GHz oced => 2.85GHz w/ XP-90 HS + 92mm Panaflow
1GB DDR400
6800GT w/ Zalman 700cu
SB A2 ZS
1x 74GB Raptor
1x 80GB Maxtor
1x DVD-+RW
1x DVD/CDRW
1x FDD
Generic Case

The powersupply meets all this HW and still has a lot of connectors free. It is pretty quiet and keeps the case cool. I like it.

Silentpcreview.com has some good info on PSUs, may be worth a look.

If you can find the XClio brand or similar there it would probably be a better value than most models of Enermax. XClio is actually made by Channel Well (CW makes most Antecs too). Could sell under a different name there. See pix on newegg so you can compare. Cooler Masters are decent values too.

I got this PSU but the AX version which are bascily the same PSU. I am running 3000+,DFI NF4 Ultra,BFG 6600GT OC,1gb,1 HDD,2 optical drives,4 case fans, ect and its solid. Also if you power your system down every night the PSU fans continues to run for up to 2mins to cool itself down and to pull the heat out of the system which is pretty cool.

If you're talking about my post, I don't see why it wouldn't.

I'm using with an Asus A8V and a Athlon 64 3500+ with no problems.
I don't have a monster video card, but I highly doubt you'll have any problems.

I'm sure it's quiet but 110 bucks for a 430 watt PSU? But hey, if your pickey about sound, go for it.

How would it connect though?

My board has a 20pin motherboard connector and another 4pin ATX 12V connector.

The Enermax 485W Noisetaker has a 24pin cord. How would I connect the power supply to my system?

It's pretty sketchy at the moment with my 350W, so I figure I should upgrade. I'm going to want another HD before too too long anyways, and when that happens I'll definitely need a new PSU.
