So I got this keyboard with great expectations.
Some backgroun explanation: As many of you know, MS has great ergonomic keyboards but they are butt ugly, for the most part. Logitechs have been my primary keyboard, however, the action of the Logitech keys seem to die out on me after a few months. I also have a Saitek Red Eclipse which is wonderful, but the keys have a lot of back pressure on them, and it can be fatiguing to work on a while.
Also, the Logitech Media Elite, my Logitech of choice, has huge footprint as does the G15. This can be a problem. the Saitek has an adjustable elbow rewst which is one of its strong points.
For those of you that do not know Deck keyboards is a serious contender for an elite keyboard, but I have yet to try it.
So enter the Enermax Aurora. It has a brushed alulminum and anodized black body. The only shortcoming is the lack of a palm rest, but who really wants a cheesy and flimsy snap on plastic one when you can get a much better gel one. Nonetheless, the aluminum finish quality and strength are first rate, not to mention the pure sexiness of the aesthetics. only the top of the KB is aluminum with the smaller base being plastic. Not a problem IMHO. The aluminum cap is about 3mm thick.
The build of it is exceptional, and it pairs beuatifully with Voodoo desktop chasses. The highest portion of the keyboard is about 1". The lid of the keyboard actually extends over the base creating a slick looking lip on either side. It is like a svelte anorexic runway model (this analogy is measnt in a good light).
The keyboard action? Oooh baby. It feels exactly like the best laptop keyoard you can think of. I love it. Perfect action. Period. We will see how long it lasts though. The corollary of this is tht I feel you will no longer have the adjustment period between mobile and desktop. They feel the same, but of course, the DT Aurora is far roomier.
This is the best keyboard that I have owned with the Saitek coming in second.
So don't attach that beige keyboard to your precious PC, put an Aurora in it. The Omen will get pleasure from it.
