I had pneumonia a few years ago. They made me stay overnight in the hospital - ugh. It really wasn't that bad though, meningitis was much much worse.

Not sure why but my head is pounding. Can't engineer right now either. The only reason I'm typing is because my wife is making me sit up because the doctor told me to sit up and move around as much as possible (no laying flat).

If that's the case I suggest finding a comfortable rocking/swinging chair with a footrest to sleep in. They are actually very comfy, I dozed off more than once in one of those.

Yes. I think that my temperature has finally broke after 5 days. Coughing up lots of stuff now (no pics!).

The roof of my mouth and gums are swollen and Irritated. Makes it very difficult to eat!

Wash your hands more, it shouldn't take an engineer to figure that out.

Strange but I probably was my hands now much more than at any point in my life.

As for those asking about how I got this....I simply don't know. Had a fever last Thursday night and felt pretty bad on Friday. Felt better Friday evening and actually made it to my company Christmas party. By Saturday, I felt like someone had hit me with a sledgehammer. Usually, I'm able to shake stuff like this after a day or so but not this. Finally went to doctor and after a chest x-ray, I found out that I had pneumonia. I feel better today but not great. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a very good day.

I feel you man. I had walking Pneumonia a few years ago, and I've never, ever felt that bad before. When I finally went to urgent care they came back with chest X-rays and the doctor said "well you win the sickest person of the day award".

Vicodin + antibiotics + sleep will help. As much sleep as you can. The cough will finally be gone in about 2 months, and be careful not to overextend yourself in the mean time. It's really easy to get sick again cause your body will be so weak.

I had pneumonia just as I was finishing university. I was sick with a cold or the flu, but still had to ride my bicycle to school to write exams. The day of my last exam I could hardly make it home. I got home, tried to crawl into bed, only to find that my waterbed had sprung a leak. Had to drain it and find a couch to sleep on.

The next morning I felt even worse, so took the bus to the hospital. They confirmed I now had pneumonia and put me on antibiotics which seemed to cure the problem in about a week.

I never did repair or replace the waterbed mattress. I just got a real mattress and put it on the bed.

I can't sleep laying down when I get bronchitis or pneumonia. I have to sleep sitting up. It sucks.

I like to sleep sitting up when I have a runny nose, though I don't have to.

Probably a bit of blood from a vein/capillary vessel in your throat, irritated from coughing.

Unfortunately, the vaccine doesn't work on all pneumonia causes...but for most of us, it's worth a shot...

Turned out it was a collapsed lung with a plureal effusion (fluid between the lung and the chest wall, can collapse the lung by pressure). Two surgeries, three weeks in the hospital, 35 pounds lost, and a painkiller addiction later, I still feel like shit and it hurts every time I yawn or sneeze.
If it gets worse instead of better, go straight to the ER. Don't fuck around that shit can kill you.

It's doesnt work very well and in healthy adults theres no proven benefit. Worth it if you have chronic disease or if youre old but for a healthy person its really just throwing money away
