I just replaced my dead P5B deluxe with this new gigabyte P45 board and i can't overclock for beans. Have Corsair 1066 ram, i cant even get to 300 fsb whereas on my p5b i was running 400 24/7. Theres a bunch of new options i dont really understand and i'm not sure if i'm getting my ram:fsb to run 1:1. Tried pushing the voltages to 1.4 on cpu and 2.2 on ram. Need some help and or screens of good bios settings please.

That board can run 400FSB CPUs fine, so you're probably limted by your CPU somehow. PLL voltage?

There is an overclocking guide on another forum (Overclockers.net maybe?) that gets pretty detailed with the settings. I printed it out when I got my UD3L and it came in handy. Search google for it and it should be easy find.

PLL voltage is at 1.6, vcore is at 1.425 shows up as 1.392 on cpuz, bios temps say 40 C core temp say 50 C, mch at 1.6, ich auto, mem at 2.1 V, running 333 GMCH latch and 2x MULTIPLIER with FSB at 333 mem at 666 cpu at 2333 mhz ... memory is corsair 8500C5D rated at 5-5-5-15 2.1V 1066 speed... i dunno wtf to do mannn tried like every gmch latch and multiplier setting can't get above this speed , all intel speed step options and whatnot disabled

Set your CPU RaM ratio to 2.0. This is the lowest it can go. This would mean that at FSB of 400, your RAM will be running at 2x the speed or DDR2-800. IF you are not getting DDR2-800 at FSB of 400, then you set an incorrect CPU: Ram Ratio.

- Disable all energy saving features such as C1 states, EIST, etc.
- Set PCIexpress frequency fixed at 100
- Disable CPU spread spectrum
- Increase MCH voltage +0.1
- Increase FSB voltage + 0.1
- Enable Load Line Calibration

E6300 has a multiplier of 7x. This means 400 FSB x 7 will only get you 2.8ghz clock speed. Download CPU-Z to help you with monitoring your CPU and Memory speeds:
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

Most E6300s/E6400 can do 2.8ghz on stock voltage. This means that you are setting something wrong in the BIOS.

Since your FSB is 333, a proper 2.0 CPU:RAM ratio will produce DDR2-666 only. However, your ram may not like running such low speeds. Relax the ram timings to 6-6-6-15. Crank FSB to 400-425.

Hey man tried to pump fsb to 400-425 today with the relaxed timings but still can't get into windows, now I'm getting a long beep which according to the motherboard manual is a problem with the gfx card not being connected properly. I tried booting at this fsb with another card, both of which work when the comp is at 2.33 ghz, and i got no post. Right now im back at 2.3 ghz with the original card stumped.

You can resent the motherboard CMOS jumper and load Optimized Defaults in the bios. Overclocking by itself should not damage the videocard unless you increase PCI Express voltage. Did you say that the system boots fine with another graphics card?

Wow i just realized how unclear last post was, comp is workin fine, just won't boot at 400 fsb even with relaxed ram timings, and 2x multiplier, 1.4 Vcore, 2.1 mem, 6-6-6-15 tried 6-6-6-18 even 7-7-7-15 and 7-7-7-18, never get post at 400 fsb... always gives me a long beep which means graphics error, and then reboots and reverts to stock settings, or it won't give any beep and just won't post.

Are you locking your pci-express frequency? If it's giving you a graphics error at post it's either running too fast or the video card isn't getting enough juice. Is it seating in the slot properly? I had the same woes with my 8800gts 320mb when it wasn't seated correctly. I also used to have a shoddy 500w(fake) PSU with my X850pro. When I overclocked my Pentium4 2.26 it (X850) didn't get enough juice. Therefore, it didn't post.

What PSU do you have and can you possibly use a lower power GPU?

Hrm that could be the problem, i recently had to replace my motherboard when it stopped posting never figured out why, I'm using a corsair hx520, but noticed that something is finnicky with my 24 pin atx power connector, when i first put in my new mobo in my case along with the power supply the comp wouldn't turn on, i checked all the connections and after holding the 24 pin connector in the comp turned on. It happened again before I feel like either one of the pins isnt making contact or something is wrong with the power supply, how is corsairs RMA? I got the supply in 2006 so I think the 5 year warranty still holds.
