I drive ~5 - 8 mph over the speed limit on highways. I've never received a ticket and I don't think it's particularly dangerous because everyone else is doing the same speed or faster. Hence, if you got out of a ticket for doing 62 in a 55, I'd say congrats, but if you got nailed for doing 80 in a 55, I think you deserve it.

So you can honestly say you've never once went over the speed limit? If not, then you should mail a check to the county for all past offenses.
Woah. Advocating the rule of law isn't tantamount to claiming personal innocence.

He has a point whether he's broken the law or not. No need to attack, just nod in agreement.

Yeah, you only get pulled over if you stick out. I got pulled over doing 67 in a 55, mainly because I went to the far left lane right as the highway widened from three to four lanes and zoomed around everyone. There was a cop waiting right there for someone to do just that and he caught me.

I used the Ticket Assassin method once, but I was still found guilty. I guess the cop wasn't lazy and did his report.

Used the Ticket Assasssin method--5 tickets in 8 years of driving--0 points

This is why California is in a budget crisis.

Good job - I've got three court dates over the next year 10 months to fight tickets (2 legit speeding, one BS "rolling" through a stop sign). Lifetime I'm 3-0-1 when going to court to fight tickets.

To all you "slow down" losers - I've been driving a long time and I've never caused an accident of any kind. There's a big difference between speeding and reckless driving.

no there's not.

Yes, there is.

There is, but I surely don't trust the average 16-25 year old to know the difference.

5 years and ~300k miles of driving, zero tickets, zero police stops, zero points.

I don't live in a metro area, but I drive in busy, stop and go major interstate highways.

I think he weighs his car down to such a level it can't go faster than the speed limit.

Better than the fine he'll never have to pay, as well as money saved on gas, as well as wear and tear saved on his vehicle.

You people just don't get it.
Get a car that isn't made of glass and go fast in it?

no there's not.

YES THERE IS. The dumb bitch that almost t-boned me on campus because she was on her phone and did not look towards oncoming traffic before making a left turn, was NOT speeding. The dumb bitch that ran me onto a median by lane-changing in an intersection, was NOT speeding. I speed. I've been in 0 accidents, I have 0 "near misses." I pay attention when I drive. At any given point I can tell you what car is to my left, my right, and behind me. Ever hear the "race car" driver mirror thing (I know its origins are probably urban myth)? Check all three mirrors every few seconds, know your surroundings. Grandma doing 45 MPH on I-75 in a 70 MPH zone is more dangerous to traffic than me doing 80 MPH in the left lane.

Just like that 55 MPH national speed limit, right?

Regardless of how you feel about it, it's a law, if you drive over 65 on Cali's highways you're breaking the law. People who speed typically chose to justify it because "everyone else does it" or "I'm not hurting anyone" They sound a lot like the people who pirate software. I hear the same excuses from both. I could care less about either, but they both need to know they're breaking the law. Actually I would care more about the speeders because a car doing 80 could hit me and leave me dead. I'm pretty sure I will never die from a dude pirating the latest Photoshop...

the moral here is, if you speed you might as well do other illegal shit.
