Epson 860 $40 after rebate

I've noticed that fuzzy text occurs with Epson Stylus Color printers a lot more often than with Deskjets. It seems that the heads on the Epsons have less tolerance for more grainy paper, whereas the HPs can handle more.

So, UltraWide, I know exactly what you're talking about - I printed out a Windows 2000 test page and it bled here and there - and this is with normal 20 lb paper. That's okay, though. It's still good enough to pass for a $40.

I find that there's a difference even among cheap copy papers. I tried the OfficeMax brand copy paper and it was horrible, but Burlington's Multi-Purpose Paper available at Best Buy for a cheap price works pretty well. If you're still not happy, then spring for some ink jet paper.

Ultra Wide: I'm not using any thing fancy for my paper. I'm using a ream of Staples copy paper, 20lb. I've got a lot of this paper in my closet

Epson printers may not be as good as HP on plain paper, but on premium inkjet papers, they are excellent, in my experience. I try and stick to the laser printer (or HP inkjet printer) for everyday work and switch to the Epson or HP for photo printing.

The fuzzy text printers might be defected ones.

Because there are many Epson 860 that are refurbished. So there had to be some flaws with all or some of them.

Did anyone actually get a printed reciept from Onvia? I recieved my printer, but the only thing that says anything about Onvia is the tracking sticker. No reciept no rebate!!! That's a $50 reciept! What do i do?

gummiely...you are too late for the coupon it died yesterday..although its still a good deal for a printer w/$50 rebate

theif...for a reciept...go to ordertracking in the Onvia customer sevice and click on the appropiate order number..that order detail that comes up ought to suffice for a receipt (and will look good printed on your new printer)

In regards to the applying for the $50 epson rebate, what I'm doing is sending both a copy of the mailing receipt and the price/sale confirmation Email from Onvia. Seems to me that's enough documentation.
