Discussion EPYC 7542 vs Ryzen 5950x in WCG

OK, the new one is on. The only windows install of a 5950x. Memory is 2 3600c15 and 2 4233 c19 memory. It will not even post set at 1.375, 3600 cl15. Its at 3200 c16 4 x 16 gig sticks. CB23 was only 23k. Isn't it supposed to be 28k ? CPUZ and Ryzen master say the memory is at 1600 ??? This is also the ONLY x470 chipset motherboard that is running a 5950x. temp is 75c, all-core at 3700.

Pump up the ram voltage more? Say 1.4+. I run some of my cheap ddr4 at 1.45 for years.
CB23 should be 28k+ with decent cooling such as a 140mm tower cooler with 1 good fan.

it boots fine at 3200 c16, but in bios it says memory at 3200, windows and cpuz say 1600. I just tried Ryzen master, set memory to uncoupled, and 3600/1800. The profile shows that. The main tab says 1600 ! cpuz says 1600/1600 @! What in blazes is going on ?????

Isn't that normal? CPU-Z shows the "single rate" speed and since it's "double" data rate memory you simply multiply that number by 2 to get the actual speed. 1600 * 2 = 3200

Or am I missing something?



See mine? My memory is DDR4 - 2400, but it shows 1200 because 1200 * 2 = 2400

No, it is supposed to show 3200/1600.

I'm pretty sure that's normal Mark. This is how my RAM shows in CPU-z and I'm confident it's DDR4-3600MHz and is set to that XMP profile- (ninja'd by @Skillz )

It shows you're running 3200. Isn't that what you set in the BIOS? Its correct.

Are you running two different types of RAM?

I'm assuming 'CB23' is Cinebench 23? If so I'm not sure I've never benchmarked my processors with that. I usually just eyeball it when running BOINC compared to other PC's I have to make sure none of my PC's seem out of line as far as expected performance. I also run my Ryzens in eco mode so I'm not necessarily after top performance.

Well, I had a week study above. So far all I have is one or two units. 1:50 for new vs 1:45 for old. old=linux, so that could be the difference. Running 68c on a 240 AIO with 31 units processing, and Ryzen master says 90% of 142 watts, 93% CPU usage. 97% is the max allowed, so I think its doing OK.
