I don't get this point of this mod. He says put the whole PC in a metal box. Ummm, isn't that what the case is? It's called a Faraday cage.

You can tell a lot about a man by the way he solders. I mean, it just looks plain ol' sloppy!

Prevent radio frequency signals from emanating from the box. His hobby is apparently VHF DX
I think that means Very High Frequency something something. It has to do with communications....

I put all my PCs in a box. One is in an Enlight box and the other is in an Antec box...

It looks like he's really scared of or sensitive to electromagentic interference..

But yet, he still uses a monitor which probably puts out 100x the radiation of the 'puter.

this guy is serious about filtering out noise. Anyone know where he got the 144MHz from? Doesn't the power lines deliver something like 60Hz to your home?

The 144 MHz is a ham radio band commonly called "2 meters". He just didn't want his computer to bother his radio equipment.

And you're right, that soldering is a mess! :Q

I think he drilled the holes to wide and wanted to fill it in.

What's VHF DX?

The VHF DX means long distance communication over VHF frequencies. Depending on what type of radio equipment and antenna system he is using, computer equipment can cause a lot of noise. The power supply I just replaced in my server made it impossible for me to have the computer on while my HF radio was on. All I could hear over the radio was a bunch of static. If I turned the computer off, it was perfectly quiet. Filtering is quite an issue. I think it's pretty cool what he was able to do, but his soldering is UGLY!
