My girlfriend has an HP Pavilion 512n desktop system that has been having some ethernet problems. The computer recognizes the port, but under the device manager, the port shows up with a little yellow exclamation point saying that the drivers weren't able to load. I re-installed the drivers to no avail. Now, some information:
- The computer has Windows XP.
- Her ethernet port is on-board with the motherboard.
- I installed a brand new PCI 10/100 LAN card into one of the slots, installed the drivers, and it had the same problems her on-board port has.
So, I'm guessing the either I need to re-format the entire hard drive (virus maybe?) or else the motherboard is fried, in which case I'll have to get a new computer. Thanks for the input; I'm at a loss!
