lol you got locked.

Maybe put rails on it. The example posted didnt have a probe launcher so i dunno why he posted that.

If you dont get any bonuses from guns then put artillery on it.

The Falcon gets a bonus to medium hybrid turret damage, that's why I used blasters.

I know it's a useless setup in a solo fight, but that's that not what I built the thing for. I wanted something that could be a stealthy proper and a tackler all in one. Pretty hard to point someone with a covert ops frigate, so I went for a combat recon ship.

I understand. My point is you would survive longer by having a longer range gun and after your main gets a point on it then move the falcon to range.

Well, the setup obviously needs some work. Maybe I'll take off the magnetic field stabilizer and throw a plate on there.

I'll have to look at the battleclinic thread when I get home from work. I warned you though about the fit Eve University actually has some decent info on fits for ecm. As much as I take some of their other info with a grain of salt, they have a pretty good write-up on ecm in general.

I just set up a really quick Archon plan, and I'd say it would take, without implants and optimized stats, at least 500 days for a "passable" Amarr carrier pilot. With perfect implants (expensive in game) and appropriate attributes, you could probably do it in just over a year, maybe like 1 year 2 months or so. However, that would mean that you would never be able to fly any other ship appropriately during your EVE carrier (except some Gallente drone boats). In short, a TERRIBLE idea for your first character. It would be far easier to simply play a normal combat character and then when you learn how to play/make money just BUY a capital character with in game money that has already trained for years.

To fly competently, if you go straight for it and all its skill that you need and such , probably a solid year of training just for it.

Aigo,

I posted this comment a while back...
Aigo, see my comments in post #2870 for some tips if you decide to get back in the game. Feel free to ask any questions in this thread too.

Also, I concur w/Vrolok that buying a cap char after u learn how to play the game is a better idea. Alternatively, start up two characters. Learn the game, mission/mine/industry to get enough ISK to play the 2nd toon for free and only pay $15/month. Train the 2nd character to fly a carrier.

Beware though, carriers get hotdropped in low or no sec all the time by supercarriers (like a Nyx) and fighters aren't so good on offense, so really they are better suited to triage. Some of these other 0.0 pilots can provide more feedback.

Carriers are logistics ships and remote rep ships.

Be stupid with one for even a little while in low sec and you'll get a super carrier dropped on you.

Yeah, about a year and a half. You need to map yourself appropriately as well, and not wander/stray the path too much. Works out well if you go gallente from the beginning, that way your time spent on training drones will still be useful for getting some in-game income via mission running. Go download EveMon and add the following to a skill plan (that will give you an idea of the time it will take):

drones V
drone interfacing V
electronic attack drones V
scout drone V
combat drone operation IV (V is better, but you can get by with IV)
heavy drones V
sentry drones V
drone durability V
drone navigation V
drone sharpshooting IV (again V is better)
gallente drone specialization IV
minmatar drone specialization IV
repair drones V
leadership V
fighters V
navigation V
afterburner IV
high speed maneuvering IV
evasive maneuvering V
warp drive operation V
jump drive operation V
jump drive calibration IV (V is better, but IV is minimum)
jump drive fuel conservation IV
spaceship command V
advanced spaceship command V
capital ships II
science V
thermaldynamics V
electronics V
cloaking IV
targeting V
multitasking IV
long range targeting V
signature analysis V
engineering V
energy grid upgrades V
energy management V
energy systems operations V
energy pulse weapons V
energy emission systems V
shield emission systems V
capital energy emission systems IV
capital shield emission systems IV
shield management V
shield operations V
tactical shield manipulation IV
shield upgrades IV
em shield compensation V
thermal shield compensation V
kinetic shield compensation IV
explosive shield compensation IV
mechanic V
hull upgrades V
jury rigging IV
drone rigging V
armor rigging V
shield rigging IV
repair systems V
remote armor repair systems V
capital remote armor repair systems V
remote hull repair systems V
capital remote hull repair system IV
capital repair systems V
em armor compensation V
explosive armor compensation V
kinetic armor compensation V
thermal armor compensation V
nanite operation V
nanite interfacing V
nanite control IV
gallente frigate IV
gallente cruiser IV
gallente battleship V
gallente carrier IV

You can cut back some on the shield skills since gallente is armor tanked, but really ever bit extra hp helps. I along with just about everyone else will say that is the minimum skills you will need. You will really also need a second account with someone who can drop a cyno field so that you can actually move your carrier on your own (and not rely on someone else who could just set up a trap to kill you). You would probably also want to train "infomorph psycology IV", "cybernetics V", "astrometrics IV", "astrometric pinpointing IV", "astrometric rangefinding IV", and "astrometric aquisition IV", "gallente frigate V", and "covert ops ships IV".

so i need 2 characters at least..

1 needs to be a miner from what i understand.
The second will be a pure carrier pilot..

So how long does it take to get a miner setup so i can get some form of income to start collecting?

And thanks you guys....

i think i may start up this weekend...

Honestly, you are going to hate the game if all you are doing is training one character for over a year for a carrier and mining on the other.

I know you want to fly a carrier really bad, but they are a veteran ship and they aren't even really fun to use after the inital yay carrier newness wears off.

Play the game normally, the skills you get as you go along getting into other ships will help you for when you truly can get into a carrier.

But if you are hellbent on this path, I wouldn't mine, unless you can do it nearly afk and watch tv while doing it. Mission running is far more profitable, just takes a little longer to get all setup.

thats what the miner is for no?

The second pilot i learn how to fly the ship and make mistakes.. and have the miner pay for it?

Or thats the gist of what i picked up from this thread..

i need a stable source of income set up first b4 i can fly any of those end game ships?

The first time i went into this game it was alone.. and when i would ask for help in game chat.. no one really helped.. lol.
the second time i am going to try this, i am going in with a friend... and hopefully u guys on AT will help guide this very lost newbie!

Once again... i am not going to ask for free stuff... just a nudge or more like a hammer to the head to let me know what is the correct path.

Well mining is steady but low income and is slow and boring as hell.

The second pilot (the one you are talking about being a miner correct?) wont teach you squat on how to fly if all your doing is shooting a roid. At least do mission running on that character so you can get all the basics and controls down for ship to ship combat. Mission running is far more profitable and at least is engaging to a degree. You can start off doing it pretty quickly and youll be training up for larger combat ships as well. The skills you learn from training can also apply if you decide to pvp as a very large amount of the skills to fly a ship in pve/mission running are the same for pvp generally.

You will find the game a lot more enjoyable if you go that route, mining is really one of this things you either do in a corp that has a booster to make it worthwhile, or if you are nearly afk and can't put much attention to the game. It becomes boring real fast and the income pales next to other revenue streams for most people.

Mining is all and good, but it is like 4-5mill an hour in high-sec (after you have a decent ship and someone to haul the ore that you mine, so at least 2 characters or in a mining corp). Running missions you can make upwards of 30-60mill an hour easy (once trained up). If you really want income, you should look at W-Space anomaly running which works out to about 100mill an hour or more. You also want to look at things which are semi-passive income, researching, planetary interaction, or trading. Basically ways that you can make money even while you are not at the computer and logged in...

As said, you will get bored to death just mining for a year or two while you wait for your carrier pilot to train. You will even get bored to death just running missions as well, but not quite as quickly (but once you get in a tengu, or navy issue raven, or domi with T2 sentry drones you will).

Good to see EVE is still progressing. I played it only 14 days but hope I won't be playing it constantly because of how addicting and life consuming it is

Oh, if you didn't see, a mea culpa finally from CCP on all their crap they have been shoveling the last 3-4 months (and one of the reasons why I had basically stopped playing).

http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=2672

All their actions Incarna/not focusing on Eve/etc really bit them in the ass. They log in numbers have been slumping, they normally have a small steady growth and normally a spike after a new expansion but Incarna didn't give any of that. They lost a lot of subs to be switching their development back to Eve. They finally realized their only source of income is going down for the first time and they are freaked out about it.

Hopefully they remember and continue to keep it their mind, you piss the community off enough, they will back up their words with actions.

I need a long break from the game due to everything that has happened cause otherwise I'll out right quick if I force myself back in right now.
