Hahaha... I've been playing for well over a year and still need to stop and think about some of the things at times (and I am a quick learner).

Ok, so I forgot how much a of pain it was setting up PI (well, not so much pain, just time consuming). After scanning all the planets and figuring out what I could best make given the ones I had access to, and figuring out which one to use for which material (which took a good 2 hours), I then finally started placing the extractors and setting up the loops that the stuff run through. I only got to 4 of the 15 planets that I have to do, as it was 1 am when I finished up the fourth.

I actually need to run some numbers as I may do things a little differently. I was working on the use one extractor and maximize the amount of processed goods out of the planet, but I may be better doing maximize the amount of raw materials extracted and then send them to one of two planets which simply refine them. I was seeing that I was maxing out on power/cpu for basic processing plants way before I exhausted the capacity of what 1 extractor unit could pull from the planet (i.e. I could get 12 basic processor units, which can handle 72k raw an hour, but I was averaging 80-90k extracting, and I didn't even use all the extractor heads!).

I could never get into PI, too much of a PIA and about fourty quadbillion clicks to get your astronaut ice cream

I only did PI so that I didn't have to buy POS fuel. Since i no longer run POSes, I don't bother with PI. I did have some pretty efficient designs though, so I could probably help in how to set up your stuff to maximum effect.

Yeah, I know I am planet efficient, just not necessarily multi-planet efficient...I previously also did it for POS fuel at the time, but we also had so much extra capacity that I made a few other items on the side. Now I am simply focusing on robotics (mainly because of our planets, but I might look at a few other items as well). Everyone needs robotics, they are a fairly stable price (well they have gone up a lot in the last few days due to the new import/export tax changes with the customs offices, but we plan on blowing up all the offices and replacing with our own, so we can get rid of the costs except for a nominal corp fee like 1%).

Anyway, I do plan on looking at some other items to make, possibly even some of the highest end tiers. I also have fairly easy access to purchase raw materials, so if they are cheap enough, I can cart in stuff to my planets (the beauty of W-Space ).

Got a buddy to play with my 60 day trial. May be making a serious attempt to play the game finally after 5 years and 4 months on my character!

Yeah I really want to actually play with a group of people this time. Every time I take EVE for a spin, it always ends up being a solo affair that eventually bores me to death. If anyone knows of or has a corp that will take in a new character like me (I know how the game works overall, just not too in depth), please let me know. I'm 99% sure I'll be subbing up.

Here we go again... :awe:

The first change I've noticed is that they appear to have nerfed low-sec ladar sites. I used to be able to make tens of millions off of gas sites that I found in low-sec parts of Lonetrek, but since the latest patch all I can find are gas clouds that're worth a few million at the most. Maybe it's a fluke but I'm a bit disappointed.

I also need to figure out what to do about my corp situation. Shortly before my hiatus I joined a new one but they've since moved far away. I could head over and join them in 0.0, but I'm going to see if there's anyone operating in Lonetrek that I can sign up with.

Since I'm temporarily corp-less I've gotten back into ninja-exploration. I snuck a cloak-equipped Drake and my alt with a covert ops into nul-sec last night and headed to an area that's controlled by what's left of the Northern Coalition. Their space seems to be pretty quiet during the times that I play, so I hope I can make some good isk out there to fund my PvP fun.

I've been podded twice I think, lost a set of +3s and +4s. Thankfully nothing really expensive. I think I'd cry a little if I lost my HG Slaves + all the other implants in my good clone

Do you gain anything for killing someone's pod? Or are people just jerks?

Destroying a pod can be a tactical decision. If you are in a fleet doing an op. Having a pod in a system that you are passing through can give warning to others. Being able to hide your numbers and what is in your fleet can help a lot. There are also those that do it just to make it hit you financially and now I think (haven't played in a bit just training) implants show up on pod kills, which leads to more reasons to pod someone. Besides getting a bigger epeen for destroying some really expensive implants, it can give you insight to how that person flys/fits a ship and how rich/poor they are.

I am a jerk, and I like to kill as many ships/pods as I can. I do not talk trash though, I just kill the ship and pod silently.

I don't destroy pods in low-sec. I try to keep my sec status at a point where I can still enter empire space and pod-killing is the best way to turn yourself into an outlaw.

I have ransomed a pod before but I was bluffing when I threatened to blow it up, if the guy hadn't paid me I would've let him go. Wasn't worth the sec status hit.

Since I'm perpetually going from one thing to another in EVE, how much time does PI take up once you have it set up? I get that setting up the infrastructure is time consuming but I've heard people say it's a pretty good passive income source once everything is up and running.

PI is somewhat time consuming to set up, but it is pretty much just a few clicks a day once it is up and running. You will need to have a hauler every few days to pick up your stuff though, as you run out of room relatively quickly depending on what you make.

Ichy,

good luck w/the PI. my only current source for passive income is (2) of my accounts w/5x L4 research agents accumulating points for data cores. I really need to get off my a$$ and get enough rep w/my other accounts so that they all are generating research points/datacores though. I haven't actually played in like 3-4 months, since I have been attempting to study for my CCNA--though I am also being distracted by a new girl--a bit like Martimus I guess.

I would like to build a few research POSes though, and get started researching and then selling BPCs or actually making some things...one of these days...

It's nice to see the EVE thread getting bumped in here again. I do like the game, but I regret "buying" my way into it, as I am not sure if I can ever truly recover some of that expense.

After over 5 years on play, I no longer have any active characters. I could easily have bought plexes and played for "free" but I grew very tired of the number of screw-ups ccp had made over the past 2 years and my personal time is quite crunched now.
