Oh man, I haven't logged into my EVE account in months... I could've trained so much... Oh well. My loss.

I haven't kept up with my corporation and I'm pretty sure they all don't care about me. I need to find a new corporation... one that operates in a similar time zone as me and not one operating out of Europe... I do need my sleep.

I found I couldn't play Eve without using my dual monitors. I tried on one monitor and was like nope! Need too much info and stuff ready at a moments glance, especially since I spent 99% of my time in null.

Bah, the only thing you need in null is local... (this message brought to you by a WHer who lives without the local warning).

Yeah, you really do need to be in a corp that has people in your same timezone.

Any of you guys here active in a mining corporation operating within +/-3 hours of PST? I have 2 characters, both skilled relatively far in mining and in combat enough to protect corp-members when mining in low-sec. I have no null-sec experience and my corporation has since kicked me for inactivity and I don't feel like moving all my crap closer to null-sec to rejoin them. I can do support on some L4/L5 missions.

I guess I should also say I generally operate in Gallente space and I'm edging on bad standing with Caldari and I think I'm IN bad standing with Minmatar... Don't know where the bad standing to Caldari came from since I haven't done any factional missions against Caldari that I can remember....

Also, I can contribute a full-fledged, fully-licensed TS3 server with up to 128 slots per instance (up to 512 slots for the entire server).

At 02:05 GMT June 2nd, CCP became aware of a significant and sustained distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS) against the Tranquility cluster (which houses EVE Online and DUST 514) and web servers.

Our policy in such cases is to mobilize a taskforce of internal and external experts to evaluate the situation. At 03:07 GMT, that group concluded that our best course of action was to go completely offline while we put in place mitigation plans.

While we initially reopened EVE Online and DUST 514, we have since re-evaluated. With the highest sense of precaution we have taken Tranquility and associated websites back down for further investigation and an exhaustive scan of our entire infrastructure. We will update you more frequently via our Twitter feed (www.twitter.com/eveonline), however, an extended service interruption of several hours is expected as this process should not be rushed.

All of my alliance has tinfoil hats on and is speculating about who is DDOS'ing the server.

I played it for the two week trial and loved it. I bought the full game and played for the first month and then just... stopped. I enjoyed playing, but I guess I didn't feel like I was accomplishing anything anymore.

EvE is a social game. it is not a WoW. If you do not like interacting with other players and working on schemes etc... then you will not like EvE and you will plateau rather quickly on the PvE side.

EvE is more like chess combined with the game of Risk. vs WoW which is more like a game of checkers.

If you like the Game of Risk and you like Checkers you will like EvE online. There is quite a bit of depth to it.

They still seem to be down. Maybe someone's unhappy about the new expansion later this week?

So my current corp went inactive, I'm looking for a friendly corp to dabble into wormholes (C1-C4 would be more in line with my skillset). I'm usually around aus TZ, usually around 8 till 16 Eve time. WOuld be interested in l4s as well. Leave a message here or pm me if anyone is interested.

I would love to play it, but I don't think I have the time to invest. And aren't new gamers somewhat handicapped?

That is not a fair or accurate description of WoW.

anyone also getting wardec-ed left and right?

No. Last time we got wardec-ed we actually laughed. They were one of those small high-sec corps that wardecs people to grief and hope to get a payout. We war rolled wormholes and found an entrance into their "home" system in highsec (which was a deadend chain which we knew had constant eyes on the entrance to the chain to give warnings). Our backdoor in netted us 3 nice monster PvE fit kills worth a couple billion each. We then proceeded to camp them in their station, even though they outnumbered they guys doing the camp 3-1 they still didn't come out to play...

Some of us have been doing high-sec mission runs trying to catch the attention of some hothead high-sec wardec griefer corps, but so far no bites....

I think there's certainly a bit of exaggeration but it's not that far off.. sure there is "scheming" and "team work" in WoW when it comes to end game raiding/early boss fights, but no where near the depth that things come to in EVE. It's just a completely different environment.

Well, my sub runs in a week and I think I'm finally ready to just let it go. I haven't played for more than 1-2 hours a week in well over a year now. Have been using ISK for plexes and I'm down to about 4-5B liquid now and just don't see the point anymore. Perhaps I'll use the last bit to keep sub until the AT is over, but we'll see.

I finally let my subscription run out about 3 months ago too. I am considering coming back sometime this summer, but I really don't miss the game yet.

Just got the offer of "5 days free." My 3 or 4 ~50 million SP accounts went inactive back in 2010, right around the time of "greed is good." Just can't decide whether to bother with this game again. Downloaded Dust, but meh.

lol can't blame the guy that is chewing them out. From the sound of it, it was stupid to do knowing that there were within jump range of a dread fleet. PL must have loosened their requirements on recruitment. While the overall loss is a lot, it is not even a drop in the bucket for them really.
