I fly a Catalyst all the time. It has 4 tractors and 4 salvagers. I use it after my Domi has killed all the rats. You bookmark the location, go to your agent and complete the mission and then come back in your salvaging Cat. For PvP, they're only good for killing frigates (including T2 ones).
Gal has 2 main paths. You go drones which is Vexor -> Myrmidon -> Dominix or you go blasters which is Thorax -> Brutix -> Megathron (Hyperion).
For missions, the Dominix is the superior ship. For PvP, most people prefer the Mega but I fly a neuting logistics Domi and get a great amount of kills with it.

I think so far we've blown up 5 CSAAs, but of course if you ask Kenny they will tell you none of them were cooking anything - even though they threw away a few hundred billion worth in ships trying to defend them.

I think I'm gonna start playing EVE a bit, tried it before but never got into it, but I can't really say I gave it too much of a chance either.
I managed to buy a...ship of whatever kind, Destroyer maybe, went on my merry way into some 0.5 system or whatever it was, and immediately got killed by some ah heck in a huge ass ship, which pissed me off and concluded my career
Anyways, I figured if I'm gonna give it another go, maybe I should actually try to get it right from the start this time.
Any general handy advice for a person that is for all intents and purposes a complete newbie? Last time around I remember getting confused right around the time I entered the character creation section.
I seem to remember reading some guide, but the writer seemed to mostly assume that the reader had some kind of idea about the whole thing, which wasn't quite true in my case, to say the least.
Oh and is there any "AT alliance" or some such that one can join without the need to spend enormous amounts of time playing? Could be nice to have someone to chat with, not to mention someone to bug for advice.
And yeah, if this has been brought up earlier in the thread, sorry, but I got home from 2 hours of badminton a while ago, and I'm really way too tired to read 300+ posts right now

Ah, that looks excellent.
Oh and just going through the character creation deal again reminds me...am I the only one who thinks the chick that does the talking and explaining sounds really creepy?

Right now I'm essentially just mining and building isk. At some point I'm going to want to go back to 0.0, in some NPC region. I have a carrier and a dreadnaught, but really don't want to do POS sieges or cap ship warfare.

im pretty much living the dream right now. my friend quit the game a while back and gave me a 500mil trinket from his dragon like hoard of treasure and ive just been flying pvp ships. Of course since Kenny and their pets wont engage anything even resembling a fair fight my pos busting battleship hasnt gotten so much as a scratch yet. We even jumped into a huge gatecamp - one where all of us jumping in had probably almost a minute of grid loading lag and were completely vulnerable but they bugged out to their pos.

im talking about like Euro prime time when we have maybe a 150 ship fleet and they have a 150 ship fleet sitting at a pos, and probably 50 other gankers scattered through the region, and huge numbers of caps and supercaps gathering dust. They should have no problem defending and repairing towers during a 8 or so hour stretch every day but they arent even trying. And generally they tend to have HACs and Command Ships backing up their BSs while we still have a lot of cruisers and newbees in frigates. Without being able to use their Titans protected from hostile capitals by Cynojammers they lose most of their willingness to fight. Sure in US prime time I dont expect them to fight, but right now at 7pm Euro Time they just watched us blow up another pair of Capital Ship Assembly Arrays.
And frankly if Bob didnt want to get blobbed maybe they should have tried actually helping their allies when those allies were in a jam and facing annihilation (LV, Fix, RISE) instead of just promising them assistance and staying docked in Delve. As much as everyone on CAOD and scrapheap seem to hate the goons we sure have a lot of friends - probably because we dont leave them out to dry.

So, I'm starting to get back to where I left off last, so far sans the part about getting blown up by some big fucking ship.
This is pretty much when I start wondering what to do next...I've done the first storyline series of missions, and thus I got myself a Kestrel, and I've mostly been working on the various learning skills so far.
The problem is, I have absolutely no idea how to stake out some kind of reasonable path forwards, doing missions works I suppose, but gets rather monotonous fast, getting some more of that story line stuff would be nice for a change, but if I've understood the tutorials and such right, those will show up by themselves as you progress, and you can't really do anything to get to them any faster than that?
And, this whole corporation business, again I'm fairly clueless, not so much with what it's all about, but rather about expectations and such.
For example, Canai, what you spoke of sounds nice and all, but in my view, 0.0 and a 1M SP newbie with a Kestrel doesn't quite seem to mix. Of course, my view probably makes beer goggles seem like divine clarity by comparison.
And those Goon fellas seemed reasonable, with the minor problem that I don't have an account at SA, unless they count accounts from the last century(password forgotten and email address long gone most likely ).
Checking the recruitment forums it seems like lots and lots of corps are recruiting people with >10M SP, and I managed to find one corp that from their own description seemed to do...well, nothing pretty much, but I guess I can do nothing on my own.
Oh and I've managed to scrape together a bit over 1M ISK, and I've seen people mentioning that cruisers are mostly a waste of time.
I could go buy myself a Destroyers book(I have the skill preq's), and then a few missions to be able to afford a ship and some weapons, would this be a wise investment, or is there some reason I'd just end up with an expensive pile of space junk?
