JSt0rm,
any recommendations on which datacores to make? I have a link somewhere that lists the avg price of the datacores, but I am not sure how often I should check to see if I should change the datacores I am researching. I am probably limited by what my high rep company agents can research, but I sometimes wonder if I am being a little too passive...

I think the datacore itself matters less then the timing of selling it. My chosen datacore dropped 50% and I ended up holding them for over a year until the prices recovered to where I wanted to sell them.

JS,
thanks for the info. I guess I need to take some better snapshots of the datacore sales prices. I will use the market tool to check out pricing as well.

Coldk,
I am not aware of any promotions to restate existing accounts...how were you planning on getting back in the game?

dont forget about data cores. It was a bitch grinding them up I did it over a year ago and its totally passive now. I just need to go grab them every once and a while. Last haul of them was 1 billion isk. Not bad for doing nothing.

Also pi is good semi passive isk so is running a corp.

Just Google'd the datacore stuff. Very interesting. I wish I had kept my old character, as a lot of the required level 5 skills are a long ways off.

For the last 6 months or so, I have only logged on to change skills. I haven't gotten a kill since December.

While I did set up a Maelstrom at undock, then undocked my carrier to rep my Mega, I couldn't break his tank because he was being boosted by a Tengu, and I wasn't going to put my fighters on him as well (mostly because I felt dirty enough by undocking the carrier for reps, instead of a straight up 1v1 fight).

I needed to get a skill book for my next skill, and on the way back I saw a Prorator off the gate. I burned to him, targeted him, pointed him, and put my drones on him. It popped after a while (I was in a Pilgrim which doesn't have much DPS.) Next I got his pod, and the new system where it tells you what implants are there is awesome. It made my 100M ISK kill into a 540M ISK kill Well, it is still pretty pathetic, but it renewed a small amount of interest in the game. Maybe I will play it more often, and actually go hunt again.

Glad to see you're back in the game some. I haven't done much recently either, mainly hanging out in low-sec stockpiling isk from PI. Now if only I had more free time!

Nice kill, but his fit makes little sense. Has damage rigs but no damage mods. Has a target painter, but close range weaponry. And has armor resistance mods but no buffer or active tank to go with it.

I'm not sure what the logic behind it was either. I think part of the reason he has no buffer or active tank is that he was part of a group that often operates with a carrier in support, camping stations in low-sec. Guess he normally gets repped by the carrier?

Wow. So after he uses his neuts and is completely cap dry he can run his active tank with no repper. And killed by 2 Drakes FFS lol

Man I miss EVE so much... must resist (staying employed and married is kinda important at this point of my life)

Which character is yours on that KM or you dual boxing?

Dual boxing. I normally use them as a combo with one prober and one fighter if I'm roaming.

What happens on the market with inferno?

Drones are not dropping alloy anymore and they are nerfing meta 0-1 drops that are used for refining. Estimates I have heard will put about a 40-60% drop in ore supply in this expansion. Part of the reason why ore prices have nearly doubled or gone over double in the past 2-4 months. Once it goes live a huge amount of ore supply will be gone from the market. Making mining more lucrative but every item should see a good sized increase in price. Then tack on goons Hukageddon in May that will also hurt supply. The markets are set for a shock over the summer.

Well it sounds like rogue drone missions are going to become completely worthless in that case. Pity this probably won't affect PI prices.

What are drones going to be dropping? This will likely greatly affect Drone Region alliances...

Drones will get bounty payments rather than mineral drops. I'm not sure I approve of that. At least the old system made rogue drones somewhat different from other NPC rats.

I'm curious to see what effect this has on ninja-salvaging. It might become much easier to see which wrecks are worth stealing salvage from now that they've eliminated meta 1 drops. Does anyone know what percentage of ore comes from dropped loot and what percentage comes from mining?

First night mining since the patch. Well first time mining in about a month. We used to pull about 25-27 millionish isk\hour mining pyroxes. Last night 59 million isk

Man, WH spoils you. Mining some gas, I can get about 250 mil isk an hour, and its been very good at funding my pew pew.

Too bad good sites only show up about once a week.

No need to go into wormholes, I've mined gas in low-sec quite profitably. Amazing isk/hour ratio but like you said it can be hard to find good sites.

i'm pretty happy about the increase in mineral prices. I have been doing L4 missions on all my accounts to get them to use L4 R&D agents--2 left to go, and have been saving most of my salvage, so when i finally refine the cheap stuff to minerals I should be getting a decent price. I also am training all my chars to L5 in the specific science skills, as it does appear to be worth the training time in terms of max data cores (via research points) per day--nanite engineering L4 vs L5 for example.

I really want to do some missions w/some kick butt pve boats, but every time I am about to drop $1+ bill on a nightmare, vargur, mach, i get cold feet. I currently run missions w/a overtanked tengu/navy scorp/abaddon w/a noctis alt, but I do still miss the paladin that I lost in the "attack of the drones" mission.

I guess I just don't play often enough to justify a marauder or pirate BS at this point..which is a little sad for a someone that pays for multiple accounts every month.

If you haven't read the interview with the devs on Ten Ton Hammer, make sure you read it ASAP. Datacores and R&D are (possibly drastically) changing when full Inferno hits in June. I'd be hesitant about investing into any skills related to the process unless you intend to train them for invention anyway.

I'm actually quite happy to see the mineral prices increase and the lesser loot, even though I'm a gun miner by trade. I've got a whole hangar full of crap I've been too lazy to melt, and that laziness should make me some extra ISK this time around, especially on the super cheap crap that's made of mostly trit.

I've been working on training for an Orca (not that I'll be able to afford it anytime soon) so I could actually go out and mine for real since it looks like you can earn some cash. It might be time to find a corp to join instead of running a solo corp (so I didn't get eaten alive by NPC corp taxes).

hmm, if they take away the passive income by pulling datacores out, then there will be even less incentive for me to keep as many accounts active, I suppose the real life savings would be good. I would keep my tengu/tank account, then try to get a max gunnery toon that could run both a nightmare or mach so that I could alternate ships depending on the L4 mission. I could also train the tengu account to Logi 5 so that I could run incursions on either account as dps or heals, and for once, be able to buy plexes to play for free.

*edit* found an eveforum link w/commentary on the R&D stuff.

So my miner is right where I need her on skills. I started a fighter alt and he should be ready in about 190ish days driving amarr battleships.

Poor guy wont be leaving his station in Gallente space for months. Hope he likes the view

I have a character with mostly maxed mining skills (I think), but I have never mined with him. I did use him to pilot my Rorqual for a while until I sold it though.

Since I never play this game, I would consider selling my character. Maxed Galente skills and mostly Maxed in Minmatar and Amarr. Has a Thanatos and about 12B isk of capital (8 billion liquid funds). I kept him because I spent so much time building him up, but it has been about a year since I have played more than a few minutes in a day. Maybe I will never get back into it and I should just get rid of him. Although he is only useful for PVP as his PVE skills either suck or are non-existant.
