Excel as a web data source

Is there a way to use an Excel spreadsheet as a data source for a web site using a language such as ASP? Unfortunately for this project I am unable to use a traditional database so I'm looking to use a prexisting spreadsheet to extract data from the spreadsheet based on user selections on the web site.

im not sure... im learning this is class now, so dont get mad if im wrong. I think you can do somthing with a query? but i am now sure...
