Excel Programming - Willing to pay

Hi,

If anyone want to make some extra cash and is good with excel programming, let me know!

Here's what we are trying to do:

C:Folder\User1\03_12_10_User1.xls
C:Folder\User2\03_12_10_User2.xls
C:Folder\User3\03_12_10_User3.xls
C:Folder\User4\03_12_10_User4.xls
C:Folder\User5\03_12_10_User5.xls


We want to grab some of the data from all the above users into:

C:Folder\Master\03_12_10_Master.xls


1. We can easy use the equal(=) to grab the data but each user has different number of lines.
2. This will be done each month, so the date will change, so the program needs to let us input the dates to grab, like 04_12_10*


I have the actual xls files that you can take a look at. Let me know how much and if you can do it.

What you really want is a SQL database. While I am sure this can be done in excel, this isn't something that excel should be doing.

An actual database setup for this would be fairly straight forward, I believe the MS SQL server even supports loading data from an excel file.

How are the source .xls files being generated to begin with? whatever process does that should be able to append to a single .xls or more preferrably, as Cogman stated, a database. that would be ideal. along with the data, you get a lot of extra junk with an .xls that can create anomalies or horrible performance during merging or appending.

Also, what version of excel do you need this to work with?

Sounds easy. You should host some sample files on one of the many free file hosting sites. Somebody might just come up with something for free.

Excel 2003.

I just want to see if anyone know or possible to creating one quick and earn some cash for doing it. If it's too much trouble, I'll just forget about it and manually do everything.

Should be very easy using if's and lookups? You should give it a try yourself, learning it will benifit you greatly. It's amazing how often stuff like this is used today in every type of work enviornment.. I love Excel and use it for many, many different types of solutions at work and home. Most people couldn't begin to understand how much a simple program like Excel has impacted business..
