Exit interviews

There was a thread yesterday about an exit interview.

it had good advice, but i cant find it. <boo search function>

What does a mgr usually ask when you resign from the company, besides why you are leaving?

and how to answer other questions as to not burn any bridges?

I've never had one myself, but I would guess they want to know why you are leaving and what caused you to choose to leave. I would just be honest with them about the questions they ask as it is most likely a process intended to help them keep future employees.

I had a multi-page exit interview at my current company (I left and came back).

Questions included:

-Why did you leave?
-How do you feel about pay at our company?
-What training should you have recieved?
-Were you given everything you needed to do your job?

and if you have a company phone/vehicle/credit card/VPN token, they would want to know when you can return them

Here we have a questionnaire with about 20 questions, had a glance of it only once. One of the questions was how do you rate your manager along with the usual as to why you were leaving.

The only ones I can remember from Motorola SPS, now Freescale Semiconductor.
1) What is morale like in the area.
2) What are the things you would change.

I actually work for a company that people outsource their exit interviews to. Some sample questions:

1) Why did you leave company?
2) Using a scale of Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, or Poor how would rate the following: Management, Supervisor, Company as a Whole, Quality of Environment, etc.
3) Are you currently employed? Where? What attracted you to your new job? How did you hear about them?

Those are on most all of our interviews. Of course different companies ask more and less. The average survey we do is about 15 questions. Some ask if you would like to be contacted for consideration of working again. Any other questions feel free to ask, I can tell you quite a bit as long as it isn't proprietary company information.

They usually ask you why you are leaving, and what your future plans are. My previous employer (after offering me much more money to stay) asked what they could do to improve to keep good employees around.
