reallyscrued, what I am talking about is, when you use analogy about cars, I gave you proper analogy.
Well engineered 4 banger can out perform 6 Cycliner too! but that is not the point here.
I was talking about expectation I had in difference between Gen of GPU.
Even 6970 (Unlocked from from 6950) does not give you a HUGE difference. (Not even 10%)
I have a feeling 6970 and 7970 have a more then 10% of a difference ?
I didn't give you the my experience; I gave you the fact. I even show much of difference between 4970 vs 5870 6970 vs 7970 and offcourse 5870 vs 6950, 6970.No, what I gave you was a proper analogy. You're asking why your 'driving experience' hasn't improved.
If you want to feel the difference, feel it with these settings:

5xxx was one of the best AMD GPU gens, and it was made even better by the 5850 not being fantastically expensive, and easy to OC.
6xxx was just incremental, there was zero reason for anyone with a 5xxx card to upgrade for the most part.

What you talk about was sound like I would be talking about Image quality, Display output ports, perhaps may be Eyefinity, HDMI sound; aka Sound system, suspension, seat cloting.
What I did was a pure talk about computing power of the Video chipset.
I don't agree, I had 2x5870 and I upgraded to 2x6950 and it was easily 30% faster due to better CF scaling. Still I didn't have enough performance so I bought 6990. It's a shame that nv doesn't allow SLI with dual plus single cards.
You're definitely the exception to the rule though, the market for SLI/CF setups is spectacularly tiny compared to single GPU setups. I'm not saying that your experience is wrong, but it doesn't reflect what one would have gotten going from 1x 5870 to 1x 6950 (a case where often the 5870 wins!).
Even when 5870 is faster than 6950 it offers no gameplay advantage at all. 6950 in some games provides a way better experience. 6950 is definitely a better card. "upgrading" from 5870 to 6950 is really pointless though, only in CF it is worth it. Changing from top tier to second tier graphics is very often sidegrading. Analogically switching from GTX480 to GTX570 would be way worse, the only advantage being less power consumption.

... 4xxx to 5xxx was epic, and 6xxx to 7xxx looks great too (other than $$$, lol).
I wonder why 5XXX to 6XXXX was shuch a close difference ?5xxx was one of the best AMD GPU gens, and it was made even better by the 5850 not being fantastically expensive, and easy to OC.

7xxx is a big upgrage, ..
..is psycho expensive.

6950 is essentially 2GB. They also introduced a cheaper 1GB variant later. But most 6950s are 2GB and the reference ones often unlock to 6970.
You are from Delta Quadrant man, what do u expect?
