I saw this on a morning news 3-4 years ago. Now they made it into a show.
What they don't show is the all the labor and hours of work you put into it + giving up the freedom to eat what you want on a whim.
This show is nothing but "Hoarders: Food Edition". Who needs an entire shelf of Mustard.
About the only one that I could stand was the guy that was doing it to create care packages for troops. But these women with like 50 bottles of Ketchup? WTF is the point of that.
Its pretty epic how someone can walk into a store, take $1,000 in merchandise, and then get paid $150 and leave, LOL. Im always surprised to see the managers smiling and clapping (on the show), lol, whats the manager so happy about? Thats total loop-hole ownage there, id be pissed! If i was the manager/store owner, Id be like 'dont let that b!tch in my store she takes all my cheap BBQ sauce and mouthwash"

The stores get reimbursed for those coupons, less a fee imposed by the coupon processing company like International Outsourcing Services, by the manufacturer. They don't lose money, the manufacturers do.
Of course they lose money. They have labor costs involved in moving those products from the warehouse to the store, from the truck to the backroom, from the back room to the shelf and the time of the cashier to ring those monster orders. If a product goes out the door for free the store comes out behind.
