I've acquired a P3 667mhz system running on a Tyan S1854 board which was taking 30+ mins to boot into Win 98SE. A friend needs an upgrade so I figured I'd put their hard drive in this system thinking the problem lies with the old Windows installation. Well, it's still taking forever on this different Win 98SE installation. It boots up fine in Safe Mode though. It gets to the Windows logo right after identifying the HD, memory, etc but before Windows actually starts. The little scroll graphic at the bottom just barely moves and there's no sound from the hard drive like it's working. I've tried using different memory, video card, taking out unused stuff from device manager, flashed the mobo to the newest bios, reset the bios to the defaults, even moved the hd from slave to primary (there's also a CD). I'd rather not have to get a new motherboard.
