SSSHHHHHHHH.

Let them be pricks. I like the stress relief that comes when I get to bitch them out.

No no no no no.. you're missing the point again Nik. Again Nik. Again Nik. If the smoker would be good enough to realize, not by law.. but by moral standards, that they should not be standing in the way and forcing me to inhale their smoke, then none of these arguments would be necessary. EVERYONE and their dog knows it's perfectly legal (yes, we do) to smoke out there. But why must we even ask them to not blow smoke in our face? Do your children have to ask you? Or would you avoid smoking by them because of your regard for them?

Morals? Bwuhahahahahahaha

morals...

No one's forcing it down your throat. You make the decision to inhale as you keep walking past and ignore it like a grown up. Honestly, you think if you're being a dick (which a lot of people here are), I wouldn't be surprised if a smoker exhaled in your face.
If smoke is lingering because of the smokers, walk through it and be mature about it.

And, if I had kids, I would smoke away from them. You are not a child, even though you're acting like one.

nik

Still.. you miss the point...

You know what's worse? People with loud obnoxious children. They take them out in public and those little bastards scream and whine and drive everybody within hearing distance nuts. They should keep them at home if their little brats can't behave in public. Man I feel sorry for people who work at Chucky Cheese. How would you like to be the Head Rat there. All those little snot bubblers screaming and crying and leaving noxious little puddles on the benches for you to clean up. Parents, your kids are prescribed ritalin for a reason..use the sh!t!

Escept that your lungs are already developed and, as you age, your body is already dying. If I wanted to smoke, and I were outside, I would tell my kids to keep away. Of course, I wouldn't be close to them because I'm one of the courteous smokers, but atleast my kids won't grow up to be bloody wankers like yourself.

Ok, I accept it. You're a courteous smoker. Good luck with your kids.

smoking is an addiction. i've been there, so i know both sides of the story. the people who love it the most will find any reason in the world to rationalize what they are doing. it's only when you get away from it and your mind can think clearly again, only then you understand how it impacts everybody around you. i hope you all find your own path to good health, it can really affect how you experience the world.

Ex Smokers are the whiniest. They still crave it so they have to make a big production out of not smoking (and be a real pain in the arse to those who do smoke) just to convince themselves that they shouldn't smoke ."i've been there, so i know both sides of the story"

Nice attitude.

Quiting was a big thing for me and I DO consider it a big deal. I have some things to say about it because I DO KNOW about it. my arguments are for why smokers should consider the people around them, these arn't difficult concepts.

Saying something is "whiney" isn't a substitute for a coherant response. Try again.

Complaining about it here about something like this with that attitude isn't a substitute for getting anything done besides being a whining little bitch.

rh71 - I have yet to actually see any point you've made here. You're posts are more like a worn down pencil than one with a point. Stay away from a debate team.

austonia - If you are concerned about you're own health, good for you! I am concerned about my own health, too. I also realize I'm only here for a little while and I'm gonna partake in what I enjoy, no matter what the risks as long as it's legal....A good beer, tobacco, red meat, etc. Unfortunately, you fail to realize that we are all physiologically a bit different. To the overall population, smoking, drinking, red meat all can be bad for your health. ,There are exceptions to these. Sorry, I have great confidence from numerous exams and comments from doctors that I am an exception to the "norm" I just got back this morning from the doctor's office. After running numerous tests for MS and possible cardiac problems on me over the past 4 months (all came out negative), he found three points on my health:
A) I don't have MS
B) I have some torn muscles and stretched tendons in my arm/shoulder and I now have carpal tunnel
C) Other than that he said with a smile, "It truly sickens and amazes me from your medical history and habits to tell you that you are healthier than most men 5-10 years younger than you."

Item C) was also told to me 5 years ago when I went through a smoking study. (3-4pks of cigarettes a day for 10 years and my lungs looked like I smoked 1/2 a pack/day for 3-4 years. Item C) was told to me 3 and 8 years ago after full physicals. Can my health go to Hell in a handbasket tomorrow? Maybe. Will I bury you all? Probably. (Well except for Red Dawn. He'll live to be 110 yrs old just to continue to be a boil on the ass of society. )

Finally, you nonsmokers that whine fail to realize that you created a new problem when you solved the problem of me smoking next to you in the office. You nonsmokers made your bed, NOW LIE IN IT!

Even if smoking is less dangerous than other factors of american society, *it is one risk that is completey avoidable and unnecesary.* that's the facts, jack.

Simply, the thing non-smokers want is to be undisturbed by smokers. This is a perfectly reasonable exepectation. As long as non-smokers arn't bothered of course smokers can smoke outside, or wherever. Just do it out of the proximity of everyone else's path. It may not be a law everywhere, but it's about human decency and respect for those around you. of course, if smokers wuold be considerate in the first place we wouldn't need any of these laws.

BUT.. Smokers here seem to think it's OK to smoke in places where non-smokers have to travel through.

That it's OK to impose the products of thier nasty habit on unwanting people. WRONG.

Thier defense is it's not against the law, and non-smokers are "whiney" for even complaining, and that everyone else in the world should make accomadations for THEM. Thier defense is that it is really THEY who are the victims, because they are often forced to smoke in inconvenient places. It is THEY who's rights are being infringed.

Thier arguments for why the rest of the world should accomadate thier addiction don't even start to make sense, so how can there be a reasonable debate.

Um. Didn't you used to smoke? What? Now that you don't you can be some kind of preacher? And you stood in those same places and smoked but you are bitching about smokers now. Wow.

I used to smoke too. About a pack a day for 20 years. I never had my lungs checked but if I had I bet they would've looked like I smoked about 5-6 cigarettes a day for 2-3 years.

Now, c'mon!!!! You want another flame war started?

Also, as I said, my health could got to Hell in a handbasket tomorrow. But, after going through the battery of EKGs and other cardiac tests/scans recently, pulmonary tests done on me 5 years ago, and all other physical tests results over the past few years, I HIGHLY DOUBT IT. Some people are born with luck on their side. If I die tomorrow, at least I've enjoyed my life. I've never worked my underwear up in a bunch over trying to maintain a "healthy lifestyle". My personal opinion of those people is that they'll drop dead before me from worrying about everything. (What I love are those people, taking all these supplements, drinking brand name bottled water and paying out the wazzoo for a health club memberships, is when they tell me how expensive of a habit my smoking is. These people spend more a day on premium bottled water and supplements than I do on a pack of cigarettes!
I don't regret any decisions in life that I made regarding my health.

EDIT: Well, excpet the time I was 9 years old and tried to jump over a newly dug basement on my bicycle. ^^^^^
