Smoking sucks.. I friggin hate it. I hate when I get up the morning, shower shave and put on my deodarant and after shave. I go out to lunch or walk through the entrance by the office door and I friggin stink like he!!... I think if you want to smoke you should have a little glass dome covering you where you all can enjoy each others second hand smoke. Now I am a reformed smoker, I quit 13 years ago so I understand the addiction. I do not however believe you have the right to put that smell anywhere you want. The doctors have proven you smokers WILL DIE horrible painful deaths with tubes in your throat. That is why I quit, I do not want to smell your smoke since I quit. Period.. end of story. My dad died at 59 of lung and throat cancer. He had a tube in throat and 1/4 of a lung left. He smoked through that tube and made me sick to see him.

Sorry if I offend smokers but I feel very strongly about this. As you say you have a right to light up anywhere you damn well please I say I have the right to go out into public and not inhale your second hand smoke.

Well, if your life means so much to you, go somewhere else.

Why.. you know it is bad and you will die from it.. you should move along so I do not smell like you...
SMOKER! You smokers just friggin stank! I hate that smell.
A comedian once said having a no smoking section in a restaurant is like having a no peeing section in a pool.. Think about it.

It's the outside. I'm doing something on my own. If I walk up to you and light up, I'll be downwind or I won't approach you. If I'm smoking and you walk up to me bitching that I have to go elsewhere, shove it.

Either way, keep your damn mouth shut and move on.

I won't presume to speak for all nonsmokers, however for me, the annoyance of having to walk thru a group of people smoking is enough to get my panties in a bunch. What you say may be true (the connection between cigarettes and lung cancer is undeniable, no matter what the figures are, by the way), but just because it won't harm me to walk thru a group of smokers doesn't mean that it it's a pleasant thing to have to do.
Put all of your studies aside (nonsmokers will always say that it's bad for you and smokers will always say it isn't that bad for you) and address the initial reason for this thread. Cigarette smoke stinks and people shouldn't have to be subjected to it if they don't want to. Even if smoking caused zero health problems, it's still affects other people.

Yes, it does still affect other people. So do neighbors who are loud during the day. So are diesel trucks spewing crap into the air. It's an unwanted annoyance that the creators should try and minimize. But its not going to kill you, and most people argueing about it would be better off learning that life is full of annoyances, and that you should either try and avoid them or just deal with it.

There is a quote from a tobacco industry..i saw..this isnt exact but it speaks what the guy mainly said. "Most people don't know that nicotine is a dangerous poison, and they don't know the effects of it."

MMMM poisons for no reason.....smoking is so.. 1960's

I am no math major but I am betting with years of smoking your odds for a nice pleasant peacful old age or a miserale hacking choking coughing age old age will lean more toward the second choice.
The other thing that bugs me is you smokers without health care cuz you know you will cost the government money when not if but when you get that cancer and then you want treatment you can not afford.
That bugs me.

I can't think of a single instance of a smoker at work not smoking because I'm eating my lunch. They sit there after they have finished and think it's there right to light up while I'm eating and make smell their putrid smoke.

Are all smokers inconsiderate boobs?

Smoking is an evil. Once my sister, my brother in law, my friend, my brother in law's friend and I were on a road trip. My brother in law and his friend smoke. We had to stop every two hours so that they could satisfy their cravings. The whole car stank becuase of the smoke. After some time, all the non smokers pooled in and told them plainly to stop it :| I pains to see my BIL smoke because it will cause him health problems in the future and whats even worse is that he knows about it. Someone pointed out that only 8% of smokers get cancer. Well fine, but just because you wont die of smoking doesnt mean it wont cause you any health problems at all. I mean just think about the amount of tar getting deposited on your lungs. The very thought of it makes me sick. Now whenever we are just standing outside talking and they wanna have a smoke, we just tell them to smoke from a distance. Dont talk to us and smoke :| Now they have started kicking their habit because of our "facism". If its facism that takes them to quit smoking, call me mussolini(sp?) from now :|

Yep well I went to a friends house to play cards and I was very happy to be invited but all of them but me smoked and when I left at 1 in the morning I went home, jumped in the shower. I took my clothes and put them in a bag because they smelled so bad in the hamper I could not sleep.
I do understand the addiction though, I was a smoker myself. Now I have his caffine addiction that I could never get rid of. I do understand addiction. I just do not loke the smell of smoke. I quit because I understand how bad it is for me and I do not want second hand smoke. Now on the other hand I weigh 290 and my cholesteral is nearly 400 so I am not totally a health nut.

I've always tried to be considerate of people who do not smoke. I do not smoke in public places.
It is my bad habit, not theres and it will most likely kill me some day.

This is the one decent post from a smoker I have seen in this thread. The rest are all pathetic attempts to justify the simple fact that they are not only endangering themselves, but are adversely affecting other people in the area. Good luck beating it dude.

They passed a law in Oklahoma City that made restaurants choose to be all smokeing or all non-smoking. It passed, the problem is when they started inforcing it the people appealed it so right now they can't really inforce it.

GOOD FFIN GOD, YOU WHINY ANTI-SMOKER DUMBASSES ARE SO UNINFORMED.

You cannot possibly stink of smoke by walking for the whole 0.5 seconds of your life through a group of smokers outside your work or wherever, so stop complaining. I am not a smoker, but I certainly do not break into a conniption fit when I pass by smokers. Do you really think you are going to develop cancer by inhaling a waft of smoke as you walk into your work every morning? Do you bitch when you are standing outside and a car drives by you? The concentration of carcinogens present in vehicle emissions is comparable to that of cigarette smoke.

Smoking is not evil, GoodToGo. Cigarettes are no more evil than a goddamned BigMac. People bitch so much about the cigarette industry and how smoking is detrimental for one's health. The health problem paramount in this country today is the average American's diet. How about you rant about that? Perhaps you can scream about how lazy people that eat fast food and lay on their asses all day make you sick. At least that is a reasonable complaint.

Yes, it is a smelly, filthy, and disgusting habit, but generally for those that are around it all of the time. The smoke is not going to affect your overall health if you are exposed to it for less than a percent of your lifetime. People possess this funny little thing called free will. People are going to smoke, drink, get fat, etc if they want, and you are in no ffin position to condemn them. Are you so perfect and devoid of flaws that you can possibly dispense judgemets about people for the decisions they make about their own lives?

Spend your energy on something more productive. STOP BEING SO GODDAMNED SANCTIMONIOUS.

both cars and big macs are optional, as is smoking. there are these things called buses that people can use to get to work. or this thing called carpooling. but instead, individuals make the conscious decision to drive an individual car to work, thus creating traffic and producing more emissions detrimental to the environment...epsecially those lovely people that drive SUVs. this is optional. people also choose the option to eat greasy fatty fast food instead of a healthy meal cooked at home. this is an option. just as smoking is.

my point is that non-smokers are just as guilty of anti-healthy and environmentally detrimental actions as smokers are. leave smokers alone and let them live their lives in peace.

I beg your pardon. My environment is being fouled by smokers and you say I in some way am causing them harm? Tell me more.

Leave them alone? If they would leave the air I breath alone we wouldn't have any problem.

are you a complete dumbass? did i ever at any point state or imply that non-smokers impose harm upon smokers? i merely suggested that bitchy whiny smokers shut the hell up and rant about something wortwhile.

and when did the outside become your ffin environment? evidently you did not read my earlier post, or you would not have been so fatuous as to claim that smokers actually sully the air you breathe. perhaps you should whine to ford and other suv manufacturers.

god, you people are so annoying.

Maybe you have problems reading and understanding your own posts.

You made an accusation, then stoop to name calling when called to task on it.

and when did the outside become your ffin environment?

Ahh........the last time I went outside?

Maybe your should try doing that sometime, it's good for your health, unless someone is fouling it with cigarette smoke.

there are other options, yes, but both are fulfilling a basic need... transportation and food. what basic need does smoking fulfill?

you're right, people would be better to find better options to fulfill those needs. but in the case of smoking, there isn't *even* a need.

so in terms of retardedness, there's no way you can equate smoking with eating or driving a paricular food or vehicle.

perhaps i am dense, but i fail to see your point.

>You made an accusation, then stoop to name calling when called to task on it.

i never stooped. stooping implies that i resorted to name calling after an argument has progressed. i began the argument with name calling.

>Ahh........the last time I went outside?

>Maybe your should try doing that sometime, it's good for your health, unless someone is fouling it with cigarette smoke.

your should try? riiiight. why you assume i do not go outside, i do not know. however, i did earlier state that i, as a non-smoker, am unaffected by smokers smoking outside during cigarette breaks. i do not find the (*not my* or anyone else's) environment is fouled by smokers. so, your point is moot.

you bore me. your posts are uninteresting and not worth responding to. off to watch sopranos.

>there are other options, yes, but both are fulfilling a basic need... transportation and food. what basic need does smoking fulfill?

it is ridiculous to claim that big macs and suvs (vices) fulfill basic needs when carrots and walking can serve the same purpose. people make decisions for transporation and feeding that are more convenient for their lives but unhealthy for their bodies and the environment. so, as stated earlier, they really cannot complain about smokers killing themselves and the environment, etc.

>you're right, people would be better to find better options to fulfill those needs. but in the case of smoking, there isn't *even* a need.

are you in any position to judge people for their vices? um, no.

>so in terms of retardedness, there's no way you can equate smoking with eating or driving a paricular food or vehicle.

you fail to make your point. retardedness? hmm....nice. try a thesaurus. sopranos is on. smell you losers later.

Stop driving your car or mowing your lawn with a gas powered lawnmower and I'll start listening to you. Otherwise, SHUT THE FSCK UP.
