Farah Khan, a lifelong Democrat and co-chair of Michigan’s Abandon Harris campaign in Michigan said that “people wanted to hear” Trump’s pledge to “end the war” in Gaza,

Fuck you Farah Khan

What a spoiled little baby. This was an entirely foreseeable result of their actions.

It’s funny how the cycle keeps getting shorter. In 2000 people (myself included!) thought Gore wasn’t liberal enough so they voted third party or stayed home. After the disaster of the Bush years people learned their lesson…for eight years.

In 2016 they said the same thing and after the disaster of the Trump years people learned their lesson….for four years.

At least in 2016 a large portion of the electorate wasn’t around for 2000 and so maybe they needed to learn the stove is hot for themselves. This was half the time!

Liberal people who vote third party or don’t vote at all because they think the democrats aren’t liberal enough are, put simply, stupid. I guess they will get what they wanted now, and I do think a non trivial segment of liberals actually enjoy being out of power more than being in power because if you’re powerless you don’t have to compromise.

GOP members are pieces of shit. News at 11.

The only thing the vast majority of Americans care about with foreign conflicts is for them to not be on the front page of the news.
it's not just the gop, a good number of Dems are also complicit in this shit

Yeah, again: most constituents don't rank foreign policy very high on their lists of concerns. I would wager that my fellow Americans, in general, have an idea of Israel as a concept that is not congruent with what Israel actually does and what its citizens actually support. And it's further intertwined into issues of antisemitism (real or imagined), which plays into domestic politics. Thus, we end up with this extremely distorted foreign policy.

I wish the government would grow a bit more of a spine in their dealings with Israel. Israel's actions are fundamentally not helpful to the US.

One thing to also remember: Israel is its own country and has agency. They are not a some imperial client state of the US, and they have their own large, domestic arms market. (We just don't have to further supply them with any sort of offensive weaponry)

Ralph Nader is a true American who made a terrible mistake out of vanity and should be rightly criticized for that.

Jill Stein is a Russian asset.
Ralph Nader is also responsible for a lot of the regulation through lawsuits paradigm, which may have been necessary at one point, hasn't been a great thing for state capacity to do stuff in the long run

Another fuck you to Biden now with that we see the horrors of what's happening in just a day. You fucked us out of our best chance to beat Trump. You piece of egotistical delusional shit.

Also fuck Nancy pelosi again and establishment dams for shooting down AOC on the oversight committee. She's the only high profile Democrat I've seen say the right things

Gotta be honest, I don’t get what Democrats big deal is with birth right citizenship. Pretty much nowhere else in the world does it or at least places you want to live.
Sort of like healthcare, we do it differently that everywhere else you’d want to live. Maybe birth right is the same.
I just don’t know what the benefit is. Maybe it’s something that deserves a compromise on?

What do you mean no one does it? It's a very North/South America thing, and it was incredibly important given the context of the passage of the amendment.

We shouldn't compromise on key issues with fascists that are just looking for ways to strip citizenship from people they don't like.

Very good point, although in the end that’s the government to decide.

I 100% agree that regulation through lawsuit should be abolished. It’s crippled the country.

The benefit is that the best people in the world come here. We steal the best and brightest.

First, it’s an ironclad constitutional protection. Second, it’s just smart.

Without digging in deep many places are sure if you’re born here and at least one parent is a citizen you are good. That’s different from what we do.
Also we need to keep the list to “places you want to live in”
Again I just don’t know if there is a benefit and what I’d get in return for restricting it. Don’t take this as me saying we shouldn’t have it, it’s just me saying I am not sure it’s a benefit and maybe something good can be had by agreeing to restrict it.

@Greenman

Does it bother you at all how much the Nazis agree with you?

This is a sincere question. Why do you think Nazis find such common cause with Trumpkins?

I really don't think I want the government arbitrarily deciding to change, possibly retroactively, who is a citizen or not.

News flash. Green man is one of the Nazis. How the fuck have you not realized this yet I don't know. It's really fucking sad the obliviousness of people. It's like you don't even know what Nazis are at this point.

Regulation through lawsuit is an illusion created when agencies don't follow the law and someone has to drag the agencies into court.

I don’t know that even I accept as 100% unconditional at birth—I hate the idea of non-residents having anchor babies here. But just like with gun control, if we want to change the law, it requires an amendment.
