to get 2 expressions you have to be super evil. I went into bowerstone market and started playing my lute until I had 20 people crowded around me. I then turned off the safety flag and whip out a level 5 vortex.

I then headshotted each guard that came running at me until I got the expressions.

I'm trying to skip over stuff in this thread, I don't want a spoiler, so if this was asked, sorry. I just bought a house (a crappy one at that) Why do people think I am more evil when I sleep in my own bed?

Probably a stupid question, but how the hell do I accept a quest? I'm standing in front of Balthazar with an exclamation over his head, but I can't get him to really talk to me. I've hit ever button and I've tried giving him pretty much every gesture. What am I doing wrong?

Scroll down when looking at the house "stats" (where it gives the value, effect of the economy, the premium/discount for your reputation, etc.). Some houses have modifiers which affect you when you sleep there. I'm guessing the house you bought has a Mask of Evil modifier.

Hey, did anyone have problems starting the Archaeologist quest? I've spoken with the Archaeologist and taken the note from her. After that, I get a message on my screen to examine her note to start the quest. Well, every time I push down on the D-Pad to examine the note and then press 'A', nothing happens. The quest doesn't start. There is no breadcrumb trail and the note appears on the D-Pad menu again with the same message about how to start the quest.

I think those quests don't have breadcrumbs -- you're supposed to deduce from Belle's clue which region you need to go to, and then let your dog hunt down the treasure to dig up. I don't know if there are any prerequisites for these quests in terms of your dog's treasure hunting level.

Yeah, the first clue is to go to the oldest part of the city I think. I was thinking of just heading over there and see what happens last night. The constant message was throwing me off. My daughter had gotten out of bed, came into the loft and climbed in my lap so I pretty much stopped right there.

At least now I'll know what I'm doing when I start back up tonight.

as soon as you get in the right zone your dog will high tail it to the dig spot. There are 7-10 different quests for her.

Just out of curiosity , what didn't you like about the first one? Are you not a fan of that type of game? Or was there something specific about this game you didn't like? It seems to me that if you like that type of game there wasn't a lot not to like ... that's why I ask

Other than that.. Fable II is like Fable 1 with more of everything that made up Fable 1... so if you didn't like the first one, not buying the second one is a good move Anybody who did like the first one though should love the second one.

I think I found the easy way to handle the Archaeologist quests. Simply take her quests and then don't pursue them. :laugh: You'll end up running into the areas that the items she is looking for while you go on other quests anyways so just do the other quests with hers in the backgruond. When you hit the area in the clue she gives you, your dog will find the item.

I think I need to learn how to play this game correctly. I'm pretty much lost, so I end up just following the breadcrumbs non-stop. I can't even find a damn inn.

I get turned around a lot too, the maps are useless so you end up having to use the trail or fast traveling places. The only inn's i've been to are one in the bowerstone marketplace, and one in oakfield.

Actually the one in oakfield is just a bar.. not an inn. You can't sleep there. I bought a house in the area though so that I could take a nap

I've never really seen any inns, and I think it's easier to just buy property and sleep there. Of course, I don't even really do that, I just use produce to heal myself because it's cheap.

That's probably one of my biggest complaints is that the map is absolutely worthless and it's hard to tell where the hell I am or where I've been within certain areas if I just want to explore. I'm sure I could use the map, but it's so tiny and inconvenient that I don't even bother.

Did they ever relese Fable 1? I paid my $50 for it on launch day, but all I got was a very poorly done demo- 7 hours to finish. The combat system in the demo was probably the poorest I have ever seen in a hack&slash- after the first couple of fights the lowest I ever got to was ~85% health- nothing was coming close to killing me under any circumstances despite charging right into every fight without hesitation. The game had a lot of 'features' implemented for no real reason- why bother allowing all of these relationships/courtships/etc if the game is, at best, a glorified demo?

No ability to continue playing it after the shockingly short main story? No way to see what kind of impact your choice has at the end of the game except a very weak narrative blurb? The first Fable's story lacked depth, quality and length- it's battle mechanics were a travesty and all of the other 'unique' elements they had in the game were horrificly placed in the context of that game. Sandbox type game, absolutely- would have worked much better; epic length rpg- again, some nicely added depth- less gameplay then the 'intro' to Final Fantasy One? Give me a break.

Fable and Daikatana rank very close in my book, I think I would have to give Daikatana the nod as the better overall game though, at least shooting the frogs could be a slight challenge on occasion.

If you finished in 7 hours, that just means that you raced through the main story and didn't really experience the whole game. That being said, Fable 1 was a bit short and there was a lot of stuff there that didn't really "do" anything, like you said. This seems to be much better in Fable 2 as you can actually go and get married and it impacts the game (i.e. you have to keep your family happy, in order to get whatever bonuses come with your family). All of that still though, is just an aside... you really could remove it from the game and the game would be pretty much the same. There is so much to do though parallel with the main story... professions, side quests, etc.... I've heard that the story in Fable II is pretty short again if you just run through it. But if you actually look at all that the game has to offer and do everything I think it will have pleanty of game play.

However, if you felt that way about Fable 1 there isn't anything in Fable 2 that would really make you feel any better about it most likely.

With every side quest done, a house and a wife I was just under 9 hours total time. Bad games tend to suck when you race through them, not the case with good games. Fable's combat system was so broken if you specced for the charge move(one other, can't remember what it was) that you could get you could fly through the entire game without being slowed down for combat, the only reason the game took as long as it did was the amount of time it took to walk around. Some good games can be raced through in about that time too(ES III comes to mind) but they have a ton of content that you can explore outside of the main storyline and a lot of other things to do. Fable lacked these things in a way that I have never seen in a RPG before. I think Fable is fairly safe on my list as being the poorest RPG I have ever played.

I couldn't believe how fast you can blow through the main story. Kind've disappointing considering how long this game was in development. I completed most of the side stuff as well, but it just seemed like tacked-on fluff.
