Is John Molyneaux a vegetarian or vegan? That's the only explanation that I can come up with for the food enhancements in this game. All veggies give good bonuses (purity, skinny, etc). Anything meat based gives bad bonuses (fat, etc). As a meat-loving member of the human race who is not fat, I'm offended by this and demand a patch to set things right.

That aside, I put a couple hours in last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Liked the British sense of humor and the art styles. Really want to get deeper into the game now because I've only been in fights with beetles and one group of bandits. Also about to get level 5 in blacksmithing so I can have enough gold to buy my first business.

You think being fat is a detriment in the game, but I cannot lie: Peter Molyneux likes big butts.

SPOILER ALERT

Just got back from the spire. Took me a little over 8 hours. Have a feeling I'm more than half way through the game which makes me a sad panda.

I give it an 85/100

I happened to run across jyettis in my first visit to Bowerstone, so I messed around to see what you could do with the orbs. Just for the fuck of it, I gave him 10 gold even though he looks as if he's been playing for quite some time. I wanted to see what the process was for stuff like that, and after he received the gift, I got an achievement! A pleasant surprise. Oh, and you're welcome jyettis.

I am about an hour into it.. I was underwhelmed at first, but I am starting to get into it. The game overall is gorgeous, magic effects are very cool looking.. As a side, do you still turn old if you use magic constantly ? I always hated that about F1.

My only negatives have already been mentioned.. Water "splash" effects suck ass, they really look out of place compared to the graphical level everywhere else. Movement thing, I also remember the "If you see it, you can get to it" and had my expectations set a little too high.. Its not as bad as Fable 1 ( from memory at least), but I was expecting a bit more. Lastly, too much bloom for my taste, but meh.. That doesn't detract too much..

Is there any word on more changes to the co-op system or are they pretty much done ?

I have one other issue... but it's not really directed at Fable II specifically, it's in a lot of games, but it's coming up a lot in this one.

I play on a 32" regular CRT TV, because our good plasma TV is always in use by other members of my family who are not gamers like me. Whenever a little tip comes up like "press some button to do some thing" it is hard to read the text and almost impossible to see what button it is they are telling me to push unless I get up and look at the TV from right up close. I would love to be playing in HD, but for those of us without that luxury I wish they could work on text and icons that work in SD.

Other than that, the game is looking good

Parents, use discretion. Much more adult themed with some stuff. Condoms, STD's, etc.
I haven't picked it up yet, but my friend called and said his character picked up 3 STD's.
lulz.

I would say that's a good thing, no? Teaching kids to be safe during sex.

I seriously bet at least one kid in the future will say to himself "Wait..I need a condom, otherwise I'll get an STD like I did in Fable."

For example, my friend's kid is ten. My friend isn't ready to have that talk with his son yet. The kid isn't showing any signs of deserving that talk either. Therefore, his Fable II time is extremely limited and supervised.

Good friend of mine played on a similar setup.. Last year, he bought Mass Effect based on my raving about how good it was.. He basically hated it because he couldn't read the text which as I am sure you know is a very big part of the game..

He got a 47" HDTV for xmas, replayed it and had a completely different experience.

I wonder what could be done to fix this.. Resolution setting maybe ? The scaling option in the system doesn't seem to do much.

I think it is just up to the devs to consider it or maybe even MS to do some sort of requirement for it. I know they require XBLA games to have text readable on something as small as a 14" CRT using composite cables. They apparently don't have the same requirement for retail games as evidenced by Dead Rising, Mass Effect, Fable 2, etc.

It most likely relates to how the game is rendered at one size and then shrunk down. Text tends to get squishy and blurry when shrunk down like that .

Has anyone else had problems getting the status bar (e.g., hate/love) for NPCs to go away? Last night it seemed like whenever I targeted any of the friendly NPCs using the left trigger, that bar would not go away even when I released the trigger and walked away. Minor nuisance but still annoying.

Parents, please read the ESRB rating before you are shocked, shocked to discover that something objectionable is going on in here.

The camera in co-op is pretty bad. Also, maybe its just me but co-op seems to bring some controller lag. I will often choose the wrong menu entry when my 'gamer senses' tell me I am selecting the right one before I press A. And when my henchman wants to teleport to me it takes a few seconds for the command to register.

When I was playing as the henchman in online co-op, I wasn't able to get the teleport command to work at all, although normal navigation and combat seemed, if not lag-free, at least mostly playable.

I played a few minutes co-op with a friend and was majorly disappointed. Using a generic character, not allowing camera control even for the host, pausing the game for the guest while the host in a menu. When I heard about the orbs floating around in each others games I thought they were onto something really cool. I guess not.

Single player I'm having a lot of fun though. The humor throughout the game is really great.

After this complaint and some others in this thread about the co-op that settles my decision to wait on this game. I just bought Saints Row 2 and I am looking forward to buying Gears of War 2 in November, I was on the fence about Fable 2 since dropping that much cash in a month on games is hard to justify for me.

The co-op really interested me though since a friend of mine loves this game, he was raving about it earlier today. But if the co-op is as buggy as people are saying I think it would actually ruin the experience overall for me.

The game is rated M, and it's given that rating for a reason. I don't play it if my kids are in the room at all. My kids are younger than 10, but even at 10 if the game is rated M there is no reason for them to be playing it. At all. Supervised, unsupervised, or otherwise. Unless I've played through the game myself and seen that the M rating was unwarranted, there is no reason for a 10 year old to be playing this when there are so many other great games that are more appropriate for that age. So, that being said I have no issue with the adult content... as long as the game is rated appropriately, so that people know what they are buying.

In this case especially, it was pretty well publicized well in advance that this game was going to be adult themed with content such as protected/unprotected sex, STD's, and pregnancy/children.

umm, he did that. He noticed it was rated M.
But we were shocked at the why. IMO, the first one didn't come close to this, and the content that is thrown in there to make it M seems like an afterthought.
Does this mean developers have to broaden their appeal by narrowing the market?
I can understand other games being M, like GTA, RE, all that stuff. But a western style fantasy RPG? Is it even necessary?
Oh, and to the AT Console Social Services, my friend just gave his son a demo of the gameplay mechanics.
Yes that means you jdport. You nanny.

I've played single player a total of about 9 - 10 hours (just passed the spire), and I'm loving this game. The graphics are gorgeous (lots of bloom), the gameplay is pretty easy to pick up, yet once you learn more of the special moves its a bit harder to master them to their full capability when fighting.

Storyline is a bit linear, but there are lots of side quests to be involved in; although most of them are go kill a bunch of bad guys at X location.

Customization is pretty cool, you can change any color on any piece of your clothing, hair and mustache.

The weapons selection is a bit limited but different weapons cater to different types of fighting styles. I can't really comment of the magic side of things, as I went mainly a sword/gun spec, but there are quite a bit of spells to choose from (which I plan to play though again as a magic spec)

I have not played Co-Op at all, partly because I dont know anyone else who has the game and partly I dont want them coming into my game and killing random people that may affect my storyline later.

One thing that bugs me is the in game map, or lack there of. There is a small map when you bring up the menu, but its very small and doesnt allow you to zoom; almost forcing you to memorize where things are in the towns.

Overall the game is enjoyable and I'll definitely play all the way through without taking the game out of the xbox.
