Absolutely not. I went to STOP for my speeding ticket and made my court appearence for my skateboarding ticket. Like I said, those are my only run-ins with the law in my lifetime. Also, I was hired by Best Buy/Geek Squad in August 2006. And I've done nothing illegal between then and now. And nothing showed up on my background check when they did it.

Well...now it looks like you knew about it and that you'd just hoped they wouldn't do a background check on you.

What kind of speeding ticket? My friend tried and failed to outrun the cops and got a felony on his record for it.

Are you ****** kidding me? Of course I knew they were doing a background check on me. I told them they could! I call them back anyways and expressed my distress and they understand and said they're getting ahold of the company that does it for them to figure out what is going on.

Wow. It's kinda sad that for such a petty crime like that you would even have to have a parole officer. Great use of government funds right there.

Yeah.

The whole thing REALLY messed up a lot of stuff too. It cost me thousands all together. I even had to go to jail for 3 days... all because I got caught drinking when I was 20.

The hiring manager called me back and said that the information that was missing from the application was a $25.00 fine for something on 11/29/2004. I have no idea what it is of, but I'll find out later today when the letter comes in the mail. And in other news, apparently something came back in my health screening, so I get to call them back and figure out what the #@$! is going on.

But, on a good note, once I get these two things taken care of, I will still get my job (at least thats what the hiring guy made it sound like )

I just went through a similar sequence of events after accepting and offer from a major defense contractor for an internship position.

First off, the night before my drug screening, I ate a poppy seed bagel. Therefore, I spent the next two weeks worrying I had failed the test because my opiates level was beyond the acceptable limit.

Then, when filling out my employment history for the background check, I listed a company that I owned back when I was 16-17 and performed PC repairs and Network installations. I never paid taxes on the company, and the firm performing the background check sent me a sternly worded email asking for tax records.

Thankfully I was able to talk my way out of it, and I should be starting in a couple of weeks.
