Are these things worth it, or are they just a gimmick? I am going to buy a mouse for gaming: optical, wireless, ball, fan-cooled? what is my best bet?

I usually just spread a thin layer of artic silver 3 over my mouse. This way any heat from my hand gets disapated by the mouse.

Nice.
IMO, fan cooled mice = gimmick you don't need. They add noise and add nothing.
Think of this: Your PC has rear fans, right? Cover one w/your hand. How much air comes out? None.
Your mouse has a fan. Cover the holes w/your hand (duh, how else are you supposed to use it?) Now, how much air comes out?
Duh.

Don't know about watercooling a mouse, but I am using watercool to cool my printer though. I've OC'ed my printer by 33%, it now prints 13 pages per minute instead of 10!!!!!

its for cooling your HANDS! not the mouse!!! u know for like intense gaming sessions where your hands sweat.
The fan in the mouse is to cool your hand, not the mouse - but I doubt it works very well...
.bh.
Duh x2. We all get that. I will offer to repair the sarcasm meters for people who missed it (and if you did miss the sarcasm oozing from this thread even without your meter, something else is amiss here...)its for cooling your HANDS! not the mouse!!! u know for like intense gaming sessions where your hands sweat.
