i am thinking of buying a thermaltake volcano 7 plus is this ok for 2000+

i own 1 and i'd say its quite a good cooler.
it gives me 51c load with my Athlon XP 1700+ after 24 hours.
considering that this is malaysian climate, it is very cool already
i think it is rated up to 2800+

I have a Volcanoe 7+ on my XP2100. Its pretty decent. 47C idle, and 55-57C load.
Though the heatsink with the fan attached is very heavy and is only attached by that one clip. I run the fan speed on low because the noise is extremely irritating on med. or high. I would use it if you don't plan on hauling your computer around all the time because I wouldn't trust the stength of that one clip.

If you do get one, make sure you assemble it so the clip isn't reversed. The longer leg of the clip should go towards the end of the heatsink with the step cut into the base, so the pressure point of the clip is over the CPU core. People say the V7+ is loud and whiny even on its low-speed setting, but everyone's noise tolerance is different, so you be the judge. If you want a stronger 3-lug clip, consider the Thermalright SK-7, which has a 3-lug clip and can take quieter-running 80mm fans (or extremely powerful 80mm fans, if that's what you want).
