4GB capable of minimum sustained speeds of 30MB/s read and 21MB/s write?ideal for quickly transferring vast amounts of data.

I have the 2GB model and I benched the read speed with HDTach and I got 25MB/sec and benched write speed it by transferring a batch of large files (400+MB) and a batch of small files (2MB and less). For the large batch it was 16-18MB/sec write and less than 15MB/sec for small files.

Agreed. Second place belongs to OCz Rally. But I am not familiar with the Lexar Lightning.

If you really want the ultimate in portable flash drive speed, then I highly recomend getting a Lexar UDMA Compact Flash Card Reader and Lexar UDMA FireWire Compact Flash Card. Expect to get around 40 MB/s or more.

Available in capacities of 8GB or less

You must have the 1394b reader to achieve the maximum speed. (reverse compatible with 1394a via adapter)


Much slower than the 1394 reader but it's the fastest USB reader on the market.
