Just a quick and possibly stupid question: If you have a motherboard/CPU that uses PC3200 memory, can you use a PC4200 DIMM and just have it run at PC3200 speed? This is for DDR2 memory.
As long as they are both DDR2 yes, the 4200 will be backwards compatible. If the 3200 is ddr, and you are trying to put ddr2 in, then no, it won't work, as DDR and DDR2 are not compatible.
