Favorite pens

Yes, unusual thread especially on a tech forum... but what are some of your favorite pens. Mine was just flicked across the room and is now lost so I'll update my favorite once I get back in my car and check the name.


It's a pretty cheap $4 pack of bic pens I think. But they write really well and always work plus don't smear as much as gel pens but still have that smooth delivery and feel.

Those are nice but they tear through the paper too easily IMO. But it looks quite nice when someone with good hand writing uses one of them.

These leak like crazy. This is the pen that pocket protectors were made for.

Like everyone at my company I use a Lab Notebook for my day to day note taking and planning. Paper is thicker, pen doesn't bleed through as easy pages are consecutively numbered and can't really be ripped out.

Other than that, I don't really write. I wish my handwriting was better, it's not bad as long as I don't rush it.

They work well and are cheap. That way, it's not a big deal when they are invariably lost.

I like fountain pens and it doesn't have to be an expensive one. My dad had one that had a lever on the side that was used to refill it. just something about the scratching of the nib.

Zebra guy for years, until they started leaking out staining shirts. Switched to Papermate Ink Joy 1.0M couple years ago, smooth writing with no leaks.

Uniball Signo Gel 207. Awesome pen. Glides on paper, smooth as silk. Butter, on silk, on one of those low friction air apparatus in physics lab, the whole thing levitating on magnets.

Never had one leak either. Haven't tried the Onyx. Are they better? If they leak: Do not want.

I've had leaks from several of those pens, but none from any other. I will refuse to use them for anything more than a signature.

I like calligraphy pens, and would use them regularly if I wrote more. As it is, I use what's available(something I probably found on the ground), or more likely, mechanical pencil(.5mm/2h lead), or a wood pencil.

I love this pen too, except it smears like crazy.

Pilot G2s are nice, but they do smear. Also, they seem to run out of ink pretty damn fast, or just stop feeding ink to the tip every time I get them.

Regular BICs work for me. They don't smear, write smoothly, and always work when they have ink. They're also cheaper than every pen other than generic shit that barely works.

Close second for me would be the blue Papermates. Same reasons as the BICs.

That's the one I have. The 207. Great pen but if you press too hard for too long it will form a blob of ink at the tip which will need to be wiped off. This is a pen that works best with light pressure and just glides making writing effortless.
