Favorite zombie movie?

What is your favorite zombie movie?

I'd have to say that George Romero's original Dawn of the Dead is my personal favorite.


(Inspired by the fact that 28 Weeks Later is coming to theaters soon).

((I tried searching so if it has been done before, then..well..yeah))

I really liked 28 Days. Did you watch the DVD? It had 3 different endings--happy, sad, ambiguous.

Sci-Fi Channel should make a series on it and give it the BSG treatment. It would be awesome!

Land of the Dead was original. Night and Dawn both have remakes, you're probably thinking of them.

I dunno, I didn't really like 28 Days that much.

I just want a good zombie movie where the world turns zombie apocalypse. The zombies are slow but are everywhere. Think of the beginning of The Walking Dead comics or something (who here has read that?). I don't want humans to have adapted to Z-Day as if they're going road warrior.

(I had confused it with "Day of the Dead"... thought it was a remake on that)

I liked the remake of Night of the Living Dead more myself. I felt it had a tighter story and better ending.

I have to say Return of the Living Dead was my fav. Gore, full frontal nudity, lots of screaming, and some fantastic lines ("Send... more... paramedics.")

Does anyone know this partciular zombie movie? I recall seeing something where people were dancing in a graveyard and smoke came out of a smoke stack and brought some bodies in a morgue back. They kept saying "raid" or "brains" (likely the latter). I remember the ending had the survivors in a house and the zombies were attacking it. I think I recall a missile or bomb or something.

I likely mixed up a few movies there, but that sticks out in my mind from childhood. Not sure if its even a real movie :laugh:

Having rewatched that lately, I find the makeup in that cheap, old, 80's movie FAR creepier than the newer high-budget stuff in the last twenty years. Go figure.

They were saying Brains (as that's the only thing that stops the pain) and the bomb part came at the end.

Awesome. I saw that as a child while being babysat o). I must have been like 6 or 7 but it gave me nightmares :laugh:

Something I always thought funny with Dawn of the Dead remake was the fact that Andy was "trapped" in his gun store. When it shows his storefront there might be a few hundred zombies laying around. He is an excellent sharpshooter (as demonstrated when he takes out the people for fun) but most of the time he does nothing. If he needed food and water so bad, he could have used some of the large quantities of ammo to free himself (literally clean the street completely) and get over to the mall where he can get food :laugh: (not that zombie movies require sensibility about them)

While the film makers "forgot" to put a bunch of dead zombies around Andy's gunstore, a DVD extra shows a recording of a video diary over the month he lived in the gunstore. He said he shot over 200 zombies in the head, but more and more kept coming. In the end, having a country swamped by a sea of zombies ultimately made guns kind of useless, even if everyone who's never shot a gun in their whole life is suddenly a crack shot that can nail zombies in the head wielding a pistol in one hand (as happened in the movie). The other DVD extra was a bunch of news reports from a TV station over a couple of days, reporting the outbreak of the zombie plague and showing footage in Britain, as well as a video shot by survivalists showing people how to kill the zombies. Oh, and the stuff in the hospital morgue was somewhat funny, though not necessarily intentionally
