FDISK issues

Hello All

Hoping for a little assistance with an FDISK problem. I am attempting to repartition a win98 40 g drive that was previously formatted as 1 large drive. After deleting the existing partition, I attempt to create the new primary partition, and when I choose not to use the entire drive, it tries to perform a drive integrity check and sits at zero percent. Any thoughts, I have never had any issues with fdisk in the past.

I have used FDISK many times over the past 22 years - and invariably a question comes up that I have to stop and think about.

To create a virtual drive (partition), you first create the Primary partition and when it asks if you want to use the entire drive, you usually say "No" and enter a percent of use or actual megabytes. It should then do its check and set that up. Then after that you create an extended partition with one or more virtual drives, and they ask the same questions. You have to specify the percentage or actual size in bytes. Anyway - here it is right from the DOS manual:

Start Fdisk
Create DOS Partition
Create Primary DOS Partition
"Do you wish to use the Maximum . . . etc.
[No]
Then it tells you how big your HDD is and asks you to enter the partition size or percent

I have never had it do an integrity check at that point. Could it be that your FDISK file is corrupted or incomplete?
