I want to understand the reformat of my old IBM system- Just for knowledge purposes.
If I have to format and renienstall my apitiva (Win 95) programs from my CD the reinstall IBM suggest I type 'fdisk /mbr' at the flashing a promt then 'format c: /u'.
On all format/partitioning instructions I have read on the web state the you just type just 'fdisk' then nominate the partition options. Then the format is done by command 'format c: /s'.
Could anyone explain what the differeneces between the commands for fdisk(fdisk and fdisk mbr) and format commands(format c:/s and format c:/u) and why would IBM suggest suggest these commands for there reformat and install of there software.
