I live in an apartment building in NYC. So a couple of weeks ago, I ordered something on BrooksBrothers.com w/free shipping. Fast forward 2 weeks and I still haven't gotten my package so I e-mail them and they said that FedEx attempted delivery on 5/16 and left the package by my door @ 7:06pm EST which I call BS on because someone was def home at that time, I usually get off work @ 6:30 and take 20 mins to walk home. Either way, I never received my package, if they indeed left it at my door, then someone stole it. BB is going to do a followup with the FedEx driver and won't be able to get any info until Thursday/Friday. This is the first time I had a problem of this sort, anyone have any experience with situation and got any advice?

I would contact FedEx with all of the information. If brooksbrothers wants to treat you right, they would resend the item again.

That happened to my ClubIT order in late Dec. Just called them up and they sent another order right away. I believe FedEx would cover this so the retailer won't care.

wonder how many packages left at the doorside get stolen? at least the UPS and FEDEX guys around our place hide it somewhat so you can't see it from the street (which is easier to do in a house than an apartment)...

My building does not have a doorman nor a front desk or office. It was free shipping, I didn't even know how they shipped it. I didn't really pay much attention to tracking for that matter since I bought from BB and didn't think there'd be any problems. I knew packages gets left by the door @ houses but I had no idea they did this to apartments as well. Aren't they supposed to make at least a couple of attempts before dropping it by my door?

How much was the $$ value of the package? Some companies have policy that if the package isn't delivered and it's value is less than $50, they just send another one. Otherwise, they have insurance on the shipment through the carrier...therefore, they have to do their investigation before they send you out a replacement. If you feel they are dragging their feet, contact your CC company and have them refund your money. It is especially helpful in these situations to use Amex...they rule with this sort of thing.

My wife ordered some clothes once on-line and they never showed.

After calling the company and getting the tracking info etc. it was determined that the deliverer (UPS or FedEx I can't remember which) had left it in the door. However...we never received any package in the door... we go in and out the door everyday...we'd have noticed.

A bunch of calls and about a week later they company reships the package to her work address... since someone will be there.

Several more weeks go by and I just happen to use the side door as a shortcut from the basement to the garage... I opened the door and there was the original package. LOL Oops...

Neither of us even thought to check the side door, since we rarely use it. (It's in an odd spot on the house so not real convienent).

Being too honest for my own good, I made her call and tell the clothing company. Apparently they thought it was funny and just let her keep the clothes.

I know.... not much to do with the OP, but I thought I'd just relate my "missing package" story.

Good luck... I agree though, either the company or the shipper should provide compensation.

apartments require signatures or pickup for either company.

UPS/Fedex should get in trouble if they did not get a signature, it should be on file that they did not.

newegg requires a signature irregardless of the situation.

Yes, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to leave packages in apartment buildings, especially around where I live since teens often hang around here in hallways and stairwells. I used Amex to make my purchase but I don't want to have to go to them just to resolvet his. FedEx should've gotten my signature or at the least made an honest attempt to deliver the package as I'm sure someone was home that day.

JUST FYI..I was actually on the phone with newegg today for a question I had with shipping actually, and the girl I spoke with told me that UPS does NOT require a signature for their deliveries (pertaining to newegg in particular)

I always thought that FedEx required a signature regardless unless you signed a signature waiver form and had it on file with them???
