Fedor vs. Barnett fight off

This was supposed to be a huge fight, possibly one of Fedor's toughest challenges to date. Now the fight is off because Barnett has tested positive for steroids (for the 2nd time in his career).

How boss would it be if, to cement his claim as the best fighter in the world, Fedor allowed Barnett to fight him juiced up? My money would still be on Fedor. Too bad there's no chance for that to happen, though.

This is a huge black eye for Affliction. With Barnett out of the picture they have an extremely shallow pool of heavyweights to replace him with. Throwing Belfort vs Fedor just means that they lose the Fedor/Barnett fight AND the Belfort/Santiago fight and replace it with a mismatch that no one wanted to see. One of the best cards ever turns average in the blink of an eye.

Barnett - the man who sunk Affliction.

I wouldn't bet on Vitor, but he'll put up a better fight than TIMMAY or Glass Joe Alrovski did.

And I dont think Fedor has a problem with fighting guys juiced (I mean he fought in Japan for how long), it's the CSAC that has the problem with it.

I've been out of the UFC loop for a while. I know vitor belfort was a badass when he first hit the scene. Could he not have a chance at taking this Fedor guy? I've seen some videos of Fedor, so I know it would be a good fight and probably be in his favor, but is it that lopsided?

Vitor looked good in his last fight, granted it was against an over-the-hill Lindland, but his last two fights have ended in KOs. Vitor has that KO power Fedor hasn't faced recently. If he does take the fight short notice, the biggest thing he's giving up out the box is weight, since he's scheduled to fight already at 205.

Ten days isn't enough time to alter his training camp and schedule to fit in the heavyweight bracket because if he takes the fight he's stepping into the ring giving up 15-20 pounds on Fedor. Fedor has some great clips of him trading with guys and knocking them out but he's even more dangerous on the ground and that's where the extra weight will work against him.

A few outlets are already giving preliminary odds offshore if it goes down and he's a significant underdog.

I may have to don a tinfoil beanie, because I find the timing very suspicious. If this was a schedule test, and he just didn't get clean for it, fine. But if this was a "random testing" <shifty eyes>

That would be the dumbest thing to ever occur and would go a long way to killing MMA credibility as a real sport.

We need to quit farting around with juicers and start throwing out lifetime bans for anyone in any sport caught using.

update - the whole event has been canceled. Looks like Affliction might be dead. This definitely isn't a good thing at all, they already shelled out millions of dollars and a few weeks before the event they can it. Maybe Fedor will fight in Strikeforce.

I think the three of them could take him in a 3-on-1 fight.

if Fedor comes to UFC he'll probably fight Brock first. If Brock managed an upset, Sherdog's forums would implode. I seriously think some of the beyond crazy MMA fans out there might actually take their own life if this happened. As bad ass as Fedor is, Brock's scary and has a chance of winning. If this fight happens it's gonna be pure win.

Scheduled or random, it doesn't matter.

That and Anderson Silva V GSP are the two super-fights that I would cream my pants to see.

I agree with letting the fight go on with Barnett juiced out of his mind. Hell give Barnett injections in between rounds.
