Awful game.

Disjointed plot, terrible villains, strangely vacant and empty feeling world, forgettable cast, and hands-down one of the least likable main characters in an RPG. Period.

Beyond that, who cares if the card games were fun or the junction system worked well? If your story is garbage and the characters make you groan, why do I want to fight for them? I don't.

They didnt rebuild Final Fantasy 7, I dont see why they'd do it for 8.

Remember that FF7 trailer when PS3 came out? talk about blue balled.

FF8 had gun blades, what else could you ask for? I remember you could pull the trigger during some attacks for bonus damage.

FF8 is the best one imo

You're still wrong. I plodded on through 2/3 of the game only to have my memory card die on me. I mostly put in that many hours simply because there was a "it's Final Fantasy, it's gotta be good" mentality going on. Not to mention all of the hours spent in the beginning to find out it sucked but I didn't want to waste the time and effort put in. When that memory card died...I lost all will and effort to even attempt to complete that game.

All of those great games in the Final Fantasy series made it seem like Square could do no wrong. Not to mention the great Gameboy FF games, Chrono Trigger, and Secret of Mana series. This was the game that showed me Square really could fail. It was a horrible moment. A part of my childhood died on that day.

They're opinion can't be wrong, and stop shoving your agenda down other peoples' throats.

I also enjoyed VIII greatly. I don't care that you don't, and I'm not trying to tell you why I think you're wrong.

While it wasn't the greatest Final Fantasy, I enjoyed it too. Sorry about your childhood.

RIP aku's childhood

-----

FF8 was interesting, but made no sense. It just feels extra dumb realizing upon close inspection the best fan explanation is the most ludicrous one ("Squall dies during the botched assassination and the rest of the game is a dream!"-- that's just as good or better than everything else? Really?). Well the game actually makes people mad with how cryptic and pointless it is. So it has that going for it at least

Oh yeah, biggest April Fools joke ever.

I bought it for PC when it came out the first time. IIRC it didn't have an exit function on the menu.

What FF game does?

You hit the cancel button to back out.

If you're referring to save/quit or something like that, it does exist, but you had to be at a place that allowed you to save your game. Like any other FF before it.

The main menu, not the combat menu. I think you can exit FF7 without saving on the PC, I'm not sure.

I'm tempted to try FF8 again, but I really didn't care for it when I first played it. I'll wait until it goes on sale or something. We just need ChronoCross on Steam...

Remake FF2, the one with Cecil and Kain, Palom, Porom, Rydia, Tella etc... and I'd buy it. Ive replayed FF7 too many times to care about it anymore which pretty much leaves FF2 the only one that I would want to touch again.

I can't remember what happened with FF8, I owned it, I remember playing it a little bit but for some reason that was it.

If you have a smart phone, the game is available on both Android and IOS. It is quite good too. I prefer FF3 (which was never released in North America until recently), but I have played both 3 and 4 on my Galaxy S4 and both are done very well. I am in the middle of playing through FF5 now (also never released in North America until recently). By the way FF2 for the SNES is actually FF4 in Japan, and on iOS and Android.

Sucks for you. Still the best final fantasy.

They also remade the sequel to Final Fantasy IV called The After Years for mobile devices. It was previously only released in the US as a part of the PSP game Final Fantasy IV The Complete Collection. The mobile release is a bit nicer because it is also in 3D like the Final Fantasy IV remake where the PSP release uses an enhanced sprite look.

I'm assuming that Square-Enix will hold a sale around Christmas time, so I was probably going to wait to pick the game up. I also need to nab me an iTunes gift card deal so it's even cheaper.

It was a hallmark release for the Wii when they allowed storing WiiWare on the SD card.
