If this is true, then it's absolutely not a coincidence and is intentional. A prelude perhaps to war.

Unlikely. Work has already been underway to repair the first few cables. The rest will be back online soon. If this really was a prelude to an attack then it was a very poorly planned one since we have not seen any acts of aggression and many days have passed since the first cable was cut.

A better strategy would have been to have them all go offline at once and then follow immediately with bombing or rocket strikes. That didn't happen and it won't happen.

I shouldn't be, but I'm actually surprised by this. I knew it wasn't coincidence. I thought for sure that the party responsible would've let up in lieu of the anger and controversy behind it, but whoever is doing it obviously doesn't give a crap about what people think.

It doesn't matter who's doing this, it's completely unacceptable. I wouldn't put it past the US Gov, but it very well could be someone else, too.

If this is intentional I really doubt its the US since the cables are going down piecemeal like this. It wouldn't be all that complicated for the USN to mine all the pertinent cables with timed explosives so they all go at once, which would definitely be preferred if it was a prelude to an attack.

Indeed, why in the HELL is there no apparent coverage of this in the US media?

My guess is that either the US or Israel is behind it. In preparation for a preemptive strike on their reactors and to disrupt the Iranian oil bourse.

Interesting point brought up that our media hasn't covered it. I might be inclined to be okay with it though since there are probably a bunch of idiots out there that would freak out if they heard about it. I mean it kinda worries me and I don't even understand it, so it'd be fear of the unknown x10 for some people.

so, all of Iran is without the Internet? And wait, this cable out off the coast of India (the one cut 05FEB), is the one that cut off Iran from the internet? And not the one in the Mediterranean Sea?

oh just researched this a bit. makes some more sense now. One of the cables cut in the Mediterranean Sea was the SEA-ME-WE 4 cable, and the 5th cable cut was technically also the SEA-ME-WE 4 cable, just cut between two different nodes in the Indian Ocean. So that basically leaves everyone in between those two cuts completely stranded from the loop. Hmm, that seems like something that on it's own seems completely suspicious, let alone 3 other cables (2 due to damage, 1 power). I wonder which country is going to start pointing fingers first and if there will be any full-scale military conflicts as a result of said finger pointing. If this is sabotage, I wonder if any group of individuals, or any particular state, will come forward and claim responsibility?

We'll there have been a lot of videos lately showing the "true Iran", mainly how it is pretty modern, westernized, and secular. I could see how certain governments wouldn't want us to see that and instead assume the rhetoric of their president is what represents the country. It is much easier to bomb and kill possible "insurgents" then it is other human beings who want to drink Coke and watch How To Loose a Guy in Ten Days.

W/out the internet we would be reliant on FOX News for the truthful reporting of what is going down... This would be an ingenious strategy if it was actually the case. And an evil one.
