FINALLY 3.4ghz

This is my second e6600 the first I could get to 3.73ghz pretty nicely stable with LOTS of voltage which was scary, this one seems to just have the hardest time past 3.3ghz I finally got it stable at 3.4ghz with 1.465v Pretty happy about it, wish I could get my Patriot 4gb ddr2-800 kit to OC more than 10mhz but oh well =\

I'm guessing you are using a multiplier lower than the stock 9x.

Overclocking up to 3.6GHz using the 9x multiplier doesn't even overclock your DDR2-800 ram.

no I'm at the stock 9x duh =) It's just insanely hard for some reason getting 3.6ghz to even boot into windows i need above 1.5v, infact more like 1.525v and it's not even orthos stable. my other one could get 3.73ghz stable on just a tinny bit more than that. fsb is at 1512, ram is at 812atm 5-5-5-12 timings.

lol =) it's just I want to push it till I can't anymore. Plus firefox?! IE7 !!! lawl All my games play pretty fricking nice as hell I just want to push this CPU till it won't anymore.

haha...my xeon 3060 (same as e6600) does 3.6Ghz easy. 1:1 on ddr2-800 4-4-4-12.

with my vigor monsoon it runs 38c-40c at stock everything, and load temps are above 60c my psu went poof(ocz 850w) and it messed up the cpu =\ which was quite the overclocker i <3'd it =( so it's sitting in the box it came in doing nothing, i might try messing with it sometime in the future, but right now I'm just leaving it be. Maybe I should try rmaing it and telling them my powersupply went poof, I have to rma the powersupply too and my other 4gb kit of patriot ddr2-800 which has 1 bad stick. blah stupid pc hardware!!

been messing with it all morning I can't get anything stable past 1512fsb which puts me at 3.4ghz (378x9) blah I pumped a LOT of voltage into it to try and get just even a little more nothing oh well =) atleast I know the limits of this processor =) Still happy I'm able to get a 1ghz overclock on it. Ram doesn't OC anything above 812mhz(406mhz) so blah oh well =) it's a 4gb kit at 5-5-5-12 so no big deal =) Good thing this graphics card is a beast overclock.

Well it's sitting in the retail box it came in. I have three CPU coolers, Monsoon Vigor(the one I'm using now), a Sychte Ninja Rev B Plus, and a Scythe Infinity. Had a Zalman 9700 which it was doing 3.73ghz on put the Monsoon on had it at 3.6 np no over heating psu blew and cooling issues. I'm thinking of trying the Ninja and the Infinity on this one see if I can get it past 3.4ghz, if I can't I MIGHT put the other one back in and see if they can do the job the Monsoon couldn't. We'll see what happens =) I don't have a lot of time today, need to get some gaming in before the fight(UFC) tonight so tomorrow(fathers day) I'll mess with it on my free time =) Also, the weirdest thing about the Monsoon is I have the one with the 5.25" slot temp monitor/TEC controller and it constantly shows my temps far below 30C(says 26C atm) but I'll open up Speedfan(coretemp won't work for me in vista 64bit yes I did everything you need to get it to work), and it'll show 5C higher. Even when running Orthos and Speedfan is showing 50C+ temps this is showing mid 30's. It's weird because Speedfan is taking the temp reading off the CPU itself, the cooler has a little thing just below the TEC that is taking temps so I'm not sure which to read, whenever I post temps though I'm going by Speedfan, not the display.

Well I have the Scythe Infinity on it now with the fan that comes with it, CPU temp @ idle is 35-36C @ 1.4v(cpuz says 1.384v) which is quite a bit warmer than what I had it at with my Vigor Monsoon with even MORE voltage at the same FSB =\


edit- alright the temp i posted was from speedfan where it says CPU Temp, NOT core temp. I got Coretemp .95 to work and it's showing Core #0 @ 25C and Core #1 @ 24C same as Speedfan, which temp should I be paying most attention too? CPU Temp in Speedfan or the core temps?

Ok so I'm going to go by Core Temp 0.95 now since for some reason it's magically working for me. My CPU is set @ 3.15ghz (350x9) my idle temps are 26-27C, my voltage set in bios is 1.3v CPU-Z is reading 1.280v, but as soon as I started Orthos to see how long it would go before erroring(was just doing a quick 10 minute check) the voltage dropped to 1.264v in CPU-Z temps got to around 42-43C. Orthos ran fine for 10 minutes no errors, going to see if I can get a round of BF2142 in then I'll try OC some more. Using the Scythe Infinity still I don't feel like taking the mobo back out to mount the Monsoon.

nice to have your CPU running 50C or lower under full load. My CPU temp is at 70C while running Orthos at 3.3Ghz (470 X 8). Although the temp is high but no errors at all over 16 hours. Oh, I'm using stock HSF.

Nice dude, I'm going to be trying my old e6600 this week. I'm getting an extra day off work I think. I work 4 10s usually but this job is finishing Wednesday instead of Thrusday. So if I do I'm going to throw it in and see what happens maybe my monsoon just wasn't cutting it anymore? I'm going to keep trying to push this current one in here during the week till I'm bored of it then going to try the other. =) Either way I'll be happy with 3.4ghz =)
