lol, you are talking about the car size, not the engine size.... The engine is 160 hp 160 torque, as NFS4 pointed out, cars with similar sized engines (at least the Mazda 3s) gets similiar mileage.. (though ~10% better), or worse in the Sentra instance.

I have no idea what the weight is on that car, but my Accord is rated at 24/34 for auto and 26/35ish for a stick. 160hp/161lbs/ft. It seems rather ridiculous a bigger car that more than likely weighs more gets better gas mileage.

Something must be done about the tail lights on the xB. They are disgusting.

Also, I don't like the naming scheme either. And, no, it's NOT like BMW. Yes, you have different series of cars, but then you have the second ABC part which makes for a common thread through both. So what's next? tD? xD? What? It's the second part of the name that makes no sense.

It's no more or less arbitrary than calling this car "CTS" and that car "XLR." Harder to remember, perhaps, but so far I have not had any trouble keeping them straight.

I'll get back to you when they've got more than 3 models.

I do prefer how the luxury names use the second part of the name to denote the engine size..."The SL 500 has a 5L engine. The SL330 has a 3.3L engine." Makes a lot of sense.

Looks like it will be a hell of a value. The exterior styling doesn't impress me as much as it did when I saw the first pictures (I think I was amazed that Toyota had a fairly clean design for once) because of some weird proportions, but overall it looks pretty good. More importantly, the feature content for the price is outstanding and from the article it seems the build quality is excellent (I consider "Lexus-light" to be very high praise).

I think this car will be the one that really makes a name for the Scion brand, more so than the gimmicky xB.

Really not helping my car-buying decision. They said June for the local dealership...so in a few weeks, I'll be dropping by.

LOL, I don't think it will do THAT well, but it looks better than bitch-ass Civic coupes. Don't get me wrong, I like my GF's '04 Civic EX but it is hardly impressive. It has the 127HP engine, but it's not all that fast and the interior is actually becoming more of a disppointment the more I look at it...

Even though the styling of the interior in my Camry is straight out of the 1990's, the interior quality/execution seems much better. There is flash all over the plastic parts around the transmission tunnel and the along the door seams and grab handles. The plastic around the gear shift housing is a cheesy silver-colored variety and the black plastic with sparkles in it around the HVAC controls is a touch crappy.

Considering that the tC and a Civic EX coupe will be around the same price, I don't see why anyone with go with the Hon-duh

I believe in years time, the tC will outsell the Civic once Scion becomes more and more familiar with people. This thing is such a beast in terms of quality and price!

again, as mentioned in previous NFS4's zealous tc threads, the tC is based on the Avensis platform, which is about the size of a camry, hence, the 3000 lbs outcome. The tC also has the Camry 2.4L engine, but I believe it is more sports-tuned (you notice the torque is slightly higher at lower rev than the Camry), hence, the lower MPG.

Hence why the next remake of the Civic in 2005 supposedly will have the 2.0L as an option in everything, not just the hatchbacks. And hey, if the tC becomes more popular - great. That means everyone will drive and rice those and leave the Honda owners the hell alone.

The tC will never outsell the Civic if the Corolla still exists. the tC is a niche car - the Corolla appeals to the average consumer looking for an econo car. Even Brandon can agree with that

But I agree - the Civic is pretty outdated now - there's little to be impressed with. (His gf's I mean)

I could see it maybe coming CLOSE to sales of the Civic Coupe, but it would never surpass total Civic sales.

Do you really think there's enough room in the market for both the Corolla and the tC to co-exist and not dip into each other's sales? Do you have the current sales numbers for the Civic/Corolla? I just don't see the tC coming close to the Civic's numbers without eating away at the Corolla, knocking it off the top spot and defaulting the Civic to the number 1 econo car. I don't know how many Civics are sold yearly but I'm willing to bet it's close to around 150,000, which is an extremely large number for a niche car like the tC to achieve.

Yes, that does suck, especially in the summer. Really undermines the A/C.

Well, I never said it was an exact science. And that goes to support my theory that xA, xB and tC are no more or less arbitrary than other car names.

Skylar: Maybe we could go out for coffee sometime?
Will: Great, or maybe we could go somewhere and just eat a bunch of caramels.
Skylar: What?
Will: When you think about it, it's just as arbitrary as drinking coffee.
