Just thought I'd share what Firefox 28 looks like. With the Add-on bar missing and if you have a lot of add-ons the top will fill up very fast. This is just fing stupid! They are copying Chrome. Down with Firefox and bring on Palemoon.

Yea, it's crap. I like how they use Orwellian speech by saying they're improving customizability by removing features :^S

I don't care much how they ship the browser as long as I can change it, but I start having real problems with it when they remove my ability to change it. There's some addons that'll replace some of the functionality, but I don't especially like relying on addons to do what should be built in. Pale Moon is a good choice for Windows users. I'm hoping a GNU/Linux fork will pop up for me to use.

I wouldn't touch Chrome with a ten foot pole. For one it isn't opensource. Firefox is looking like Chrome.

Yup, and anyone complaining about customization is completely SOL with Chrome. Even their addons don't work as well.

As long as I can customise it back to the way Firefox 3.x looked, that's fine with me

Loyal Firefox user for years. Switched to chrome 2 or 3 months ago. Haven't looked back.
how in the world can anyone switch to Chrome when it doesn't even have a WYSIWYG editor for vBulletin forums? If you wanna copy something or edit something from another post it's a nightmare

COPY THAT! Since having learned about Pale Moon here, getting it, getting rid of FX....I float just above my chair when I am on this system and, as now, in PM.

Reminds me: apps change over time. Some get better and remain lean and mean and viable...others loose their way and become corrupt.

Good example is is Norton. When I got my first computer, I was told by the one guy friend who knew things, Norton was the worst, resource hog and total bloat. Then, Symantec learned, evovled worldclass software over time, and now, I run Norton IS.

I love Pale Moon.

Plus, it is also, like everything Google now, a deal breaker privacy invader.

They did? I seem to have been removing Norton (360) more often (from customers' computers) than I used to since Win8 was released, crashing (silent or not), inexplicable error messages for which the only official solution is "remove it and put it back on again"... yikes.

I might have a poke at Norton Anti-Virus only to see if that still has a reasonable rep.

I should have been more specific: have been using Norton IS for a long time now, never once had an issue, I almost never have to open it (I do only to clean the history/log files, it logs EVERYTHING); it is not only problem free, it is lite as a feather and very, very effective.

It is also wondrously configurable.

I can't speak for the AV or the 360, forget, your clients!:whiste: And, since I choose not to run W8, I also can't speak to Norton's compatibility with it. I run W7.

How? For starters, I have no idea what you're talking about.

I think he's talking about how when you copy some text in Firefox and then paste it somewhere else, the bold/font/color/hyperlink/size/etc. gets copied with it. I've always wondered how to turn that feature off, I just copy the text into Notepad then re-copy it back into my browser to avoid it.

Yup, I've found that irritating as well

First it was the new Opera and now FF28 that looks like Chrome, scarey to say the least.

I've nothing against Chrome but when it takes away features I need and use then I start to get very annoyed and look elsewhere.

I went from Opera to Firefox due to the lastest Opera being so much like Chrome with all the old Opera features virtually gone, will I have to move from FF down the road,I hope not.

Chrome is pretty good on Chromebooks. I prefer Firefox on PC/Laptops since it has great addons for web devs.

If that's what he was talking about, that's a minor detail to someone like me. I'm no Google fanboy, but Chrome seems to work fine for me.

There's a nice extension called "Copy As Plain Text" that solves the problem.

Here are the details:

I stopped updating Firefox two versions ago because of shit like this. Until they bring back customization, I'm staying as it is.

I like Firefox.

On general principle I've avoided Google Chrome. There's just too much concentration of power and influence being settled onto Google. The world's better off by keeping some diversity by having several brands in competition.

Anyway I tried Chrome for awhile and didn't like it came back to Firefox.

There's plenty of room for differing opinions.

Pale Moon is... awesoooome. Thank goodness for FF's open source nature meaning endless tinkering.
