Yeah this is pretty nice. The new anti-aliased fonts look nice, UI and page loading seems quicker (due to HW acceleration I guess), and the new addon manager is nice too. Was a long wait, but definitely worth it.

Firefox needs to fix those bland status messages. I would like to have some sort of user customizable backgrounds colors and default font colors for these user information messages. What genius decided to put Dark Grey on a Light Grey background ? ? Or worse, simple text on a totally White Background ? ? In a word: UGLY

You can change the background, text colors, and just about anything by editing the userChrome.css.

By the way, which status messages are you talking about? I don't recall seeing them and I would like to take a look for myself. Thanks!

Just upgraded this morning, FF4 seems to run fast, 2 things though

I like the old style tabs, under the address bar

I do not like the menu bar being hidden by default. New users might find this confusing.

The menu seems to change whether its the old style or new style.

New style - file - options - tabs on top

Old style - tools options - tabs - tabs on top not listed

Search the web for the site where you can see all the downloads that are done on the browse. Just epic animation

Couple of things I don't like.

1) No status bar on the bottom. Can't figure out how to enable it if it's available but I liked seeing a permanent bar on the bottom (plus it's where I'm used to having my adblock icon)

2) Mouse gestures! I'm so lost w/o them!

I think my GPU(9600GT) fan is throttling up a bit when using Firefox 4 for a while. I enabled hardware acceleration again. At first I couldn't figure out where the extra noise was coming from but then it dawned on me that it could be that, or I could be wrong. I don't have Riva Tuner installed to check the fan speeds to confirm, not really a big deal, just curious to see if i'm right.

I agree about the tabs. You can move the tabs down by right clicking on the tab bar and unchecking "tabs on top".

I don't notice any lag, then again I don't tend to have 20 tabs open at once. Usually between 6-10 though.

And FF 4.0 is the official release, I don't know why you'd go with the older RC builds?

Oh, I didn't realize those RC versions they were linking to here weren't issued after the official release.

I'm really bad at closing windows and tabs and it's got me into trouble. One problem is I often figure I already have a page open but don't know how to find it so I open it again. Do this enough and you have a LOT of tabs open. :'( It slows FF down very nastily. It's unpredictable on my machines. One moment I get instant keyboard response and the next there's a ~2 second delay. I'm used to it, sort of, but it plays nasty with your nerves.

I watched a couple of videos yesterday on FF 4 and one said they've implemented a find in the address bar for tabs already open, so if I learn to use that (I suppose I have to know what it says in the title bar to utilize this), it may help me with this problem.

Another problem with me is I have a lot of pages I figure I haven't finished with, so I leave them open so I don't forget them. Yes, that's what bookmarks are for, but I have so many bookmarks I don't use them. It does get ungainly.

I've noticed that, and to me it feels incredibly 'cheap' as if there was suppose to be something better there and it's not rendering properly.

I tend to do this as well. However after a bit I get annoyed with all the tab clutter and start knocking them down. Usually if I'm researching something I open up a new instance of FF and let the tabs pool in that one. Mainly because I generally have a certain few sites I like to have open all the time and opening 20 tabs creates quite the clutter.

Switched back to 3.6.16.

- Whenever I had my navigation and menu bars customized how I liked them, FF4 would randomly forget those customizations and the bars would all be set back to default whenever I launched FF. If I right clicked on the navigation or menu bars and clicked on "Customize" whenever I'd do whatever I needed to, the next time FF was launched, the bars would all be set back to default.

- The new popup URL at the bottom left always blocks the bottom bookmark or two in my bookmarks pane whenever that pane is open. I frequently save UPS / FedEx / USPS tracking pages in the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder and these bookmarks are always at the bottom of the bookmarks pane.

haven't tried it out yet but from reading the posts and reviews and screenshots i will stay with FF3 on my desktop but probably try it out on my netbook.

I have chrome on my netbook. It just feels faster than FF3. However I hate minimalistic menu and options. I hardly ever find a setting. How do you clear cache on chrome? Chrome also clutters my HDD because it just auto-updates and keeps all the old stuff.

Tabs and top sounds retarded thats the thing I use the most and hence should be as close to my mouse pointer as possible. Ok I could use shortcuts...

I know I've had this issue for a while but it's bugging me now b/c I'm pinning tabs as App Tabs. My problem is the Web Page's Icon not displaying. I'll have it on one computer but not another. I deleted the cookie for the website and erased my history but the web page's icon will not display.

Is there a way to correct this?
