firewire device chaining question

in order to chain firewire devices, do i need to buy firewire enclosures with 2 firewire ports? or do i need to buy some special firewire cables/addons.

I believe you will need either a device with 2 firewire ports or you will have to use a firewire hub

All you need an enclosure with at least two ports, which is most of them.

The only problem is that to use something down the chain, the stuff up the chain has to be on. If you turn it off, usually everything downstream on that chain goes dead.

I spent $25 on a Firewire hub, since I don't like having my 5 Firewire devices on all the time or switching cables all the time.
