First Time builder has a problem

Hello all,

I Just recently ordered an Asus K8V Deluxe SE, an AMD 3000+ 64bit, 1 gig of mushkin level 1 pc 3500 ram, a 200 gb WD HDD,a sapphire 9800 pro 128mb, and a Lite on cd burner and an NEC 8x dvd burner. I put all these components together in my Xoxide Black X-Turbine with 6 case fans, connected all the wires, and pressed the power button. To my joy I saw the Asus logo pop up on the screen... then it loaded and went to reboot or place boot media and press any key. After placing my windows CD in and my Lite on cd driver disk I am clueless to what is going on. I went back and reconnected my cd and dvd drive ribbon again and nothing happens, I keep on seeing the black screen saying place boot media and hit any key, I hit a key and it shows again. THe computer detects i have a floppy drive and HDD but nothing else. I went to the asus manual and I could find nothing. Can anyone please help, It would be most appreciated. I Want to get this beast ready for doom 3.

Probably not why, but are all IDE channels enabled in your BIOS? Did you hook up the power connectors to the drives? Is the BIOS set to boot from the CD-ROM drive first?

well the bios only shows the FLoppy drive and the 200 gig WD HDD, so i cant show set it to boot from the cd rom first.

If the CD and DVD drives' cable is plugged into the IDE port that runs horizontally, rather than the two that run vertically, that's problem #1, because that port is connected to the Promise SATA controller. If that's the case, go ahead and plug the optical drives' cable into one of the other IDE ports and see if that gets you going
